I lived for years in the West Texas dessert and we did not have highs as what we had this summer in East Texas

Thank you for the warm welcome, I live in Palestine, TX, known as the Piney Woods. I moved here 3 years ago after a 17 year stint on the gulf. What a difference 250 miles can make. I think I have found a wonderful place for both learning and critique.

Could someone please direct me to a good tutorial on the various focus modes available to the K-r user, I am anxious to learn and short on experience. Knowing what, when, and where to use each would sure help me out a lot. Thanks.

Iam still trying to get my feet wet in the DSLR realm. I had a Canon D50 but I was terribly dissatisfied with the quality of all the soft focus pictures so I sold it and bought the Pentax K-r. Most of my photos are of my Grand-kids and family activities. I am hoping to be able to garner some valuable tips on how to improve my abilities. I am looking forward to a wonderful relationship with everyone here, and would love to hear from other Texans on the forum.
