K10d Back focusing

My problem with backfocusing on the K10D was solved in about 13 days by Pentax. I sent my body in - less the strap, battery, memory, and any other detachable things. They fixed it and returned it to me in less than two weeks.

I realize that there is a "Debug Mode" firmware update available, but some might feel better sending it in to Pentax for alignment.

Thanks for saying what a lot of us are afraid to speak out about.

I wish the new president the best, but not at the cost of our constitutional rights and liberties. It is bad enough under a "conservative", republican president. We do need to change something, but it doesn't look like we are heading in the right direction. With the bailouts of the wealthy, increased corporate welfare, and massively increasing US debt - it is going to take more than change or hope! We need a complete replacement of our Congress.

Fungus Nightmare!! - How to store photo equipment??

My suggestion is to do what I have done with great results. I use a large Pelican waterproof case. Inside I put all my camera gear along with a Eva-Dry de-humidifier unit. The Eva-Dry is about 4 X 5 X 1 inches and contains silica gel and a heater unit. It has a visible indicator to show when to "recharge" the silica gel. You can renew or "recharge" the silica gel by plugging in the Eva-Dry to a 120V outlet. It will be like new again and ready to absorb moisture again in a few hours. Keep the case with the de-humidifier closed when you are not using the equipment. The water proof feature of Pelican brand cases, also makes it air tight too.

My 2 cents worth...

I just wanted to endorse this lens before this thread is closed.

I have this lens and I can highly recommend it. The FA31 Ltd is much better, but for an inexpensive, fast, sharp lens - this is a great lens. The only problem is with the corner sharpness, otherwise it is as sharp at a tack - even wide open!

My $0.02 worth...

About Fa 43mm ltd

In my humble opinion, I think that the 43 is better than the 50/x.x. Sorry if some folks do not agree, but I am entitled to my opinion. I had the 31, 43, and 77 - which are some of the best lenses ever made. Not by my standards, but by Canon and Nikon owners who lust after the Pentax trio. If the Pentax trio could be converted and retain autofocus in the other two formats - they would bring twice the price. I guarantee ya, or my name isn't TomInJax!

I just left Pentax for the darkside, and I will tell you from my experience that the price of N lenses are about 2X what Pentax lenses cost. If you want to move to another brand (N or C) then you had better have a good reason - and it won't be quality glass. Pentax has some of the best glass in the world: 31, 43, and 77 Ltd for example.

I left for the darkside for a specific reason. If you like Pentax bodies, you will not gain a thing by moving to another brand!

Wow! That is (was) my favorite lens! That is a fantastic price for a lens worth about $1000 !!!

Oh well. By the way - since my switch to the dark side, the closest thing that I can find is a Sigma 30/1.4. It isn't as good as the 31, but it will have to do. :(

I probably shouldn't say this, but that photo was taken using the DA*300/4, using a 1.4x Kenko teleconverter too! That should prove how razor sharp the lens is! It will definitely out resolve the ability of the K20D!

It is an amazing lens! I cannot understand why someone hasn't purchased it yet. It is weather and dust proof, so it is perfect for sports and wildlife photography.

Nikon D700 VS PENTAX

Yes, you are right! I just did the opposite. I sold a K20D, DA14/2.8, FA31/1.8 Ltd, DA16-45/4, DA*50-135/2.8, F50/1.7, A50/2.8 macro, DA*300/4 and got a Nikon D300, 16-85/3.5-5.6 VR, 70-200/2.8 VR, and a 1.7X Tele-Extender. Why, why, why would someone let go of such perfect glass and get so little? Because it isn't the glass with Pentax. Pentax has some of the best lenses in the world right now! The problem is with the focus and low light performance.

I am not putting Pentax down. I love the lenses. But I lost a lot of shots on an expensive vacation in Alaska two months ago, because the camera couldn't focus.

If you don't need fast focus, you are much better off with Pentax. If you don't mind manual focus, you are much better off with Pentax. Why? The glass! Pure and simple, the glass is some of the best!

I agree Ed! The 16-45 and K20D are one of the best combinations.

My 16-45 was on the camera most of the time! You cannot beat it: lightweight, sharp, and an excellent medium zoom range! Sure it is a stop less than the legendary 16-50, but you don't have the weight or the alignment issue.

Congrats Heather! You will love both of these gems!

I never had the 540. It did fit the 360. Check the specs and if the size of the 540 and 360 is about the same where the flash head is, then yes.
