Perhaps development was finished, but manufacturing not started. Then manufacturing got severely delayed from very early in 2020 due to the virus. Factories working with severely diminished staff, servere delays in availability of materials, and later lacking availability of materials due to a much, much higher production of virus-related products. Not to mention that the price of some materials have risen up to 60 times of what they used to cost. That is my experience from my own workplace, at least. So they may simply have chosen to delay the launch until production and availability of goods has stabilized.

Same rose as above, but at f3.5. Bokeh is still looking a little funky

Flippy screen is a tool. Like waist-level finders were some decades ago. This tool is basic feature of a digital camera in 2020 like air conditioning is in the car industry. Mobile screens are pure fail to be used with a serious weather sealed camera.

What the flip? No flip screen?
Who the flip asked them to make a thinner camera?
The k-1 is already durable enough?
What kind of flippery is this?
Backward progress has been the trend of 2020.

They just took the fun out of taking photos. No waist level shots, no, over the head shots, more work while doing astrophotography.

They could have added an old school slr like pentaprism for better manual photography.
Who needs autofocus anyways? Autofocus is over rated.
I guess they have fired the people who designed the K-1.
It's going to be big flipping flop.

After cameras like k-1 and k3 mk2 few people are gonna buy this.
Sadly they just lost a huge chunk of their market. Not going to invest in this. Wanted to buy a new camera in 2021.

If indeed that integration of K-new with the Phone will be that good, there is no need to have GPS embedded. Smartphones nowadays as a rule has GPS.

I have the Pentax version, I haven't used it since I got the K-1 and the wild screen. The tilt screen is a much more elegant solution.

Anyone really care about a centimeter or a few grams? I think most would rather have a tilt screen.

I've noticed another somewhat contrary fact..

In this 3rd product story, they say the K-1 was given a flippy screen 'cause they expected it would be frequently mounted on a tripod, suggesting the new APS-C would less frequently be mounted on a tripod..
But Pentax just released the a DA* 11-18mm f/2.8 - designed for crop bodies AND has a special notch to hold a lens element warmer during astrophotography which necessitates a tripod...

If Pentax decided to go back to a 14-16 MP sensor and 9 11 (oops) AF points people would bring out pitchforks, torches, and probably depleted uranium rounds.

Let's be honest for a second. The K-1's OVF is great and a joy to use, but it is -not- the largest. It's not even among the largest in current cameras, the only smaller one is in a very entry level camera (6Dii). Are there any other current FF DSLRs in the market? The list that ogl put is... basically all of them.

The important part is that all FF OVFs in use currently are very close to each other, while APS-C ones are (most of the time) noticeably smaller. The K-New will change that.
