Framing. A simple tip in framing your shots is by using live view. Turn it on and look at the many possibilities in framing a scene. It's like looking at a framed art work. Fire away!

I simply liked this building and caught my attention. The symmetry of cubes and squares was interesting, as well as the reflection of the sky.

I've been fascinated and amazed looking at these trees ever since we moved here about 3 years ago. It's somewhat eerie and full of mystery. I'm sure it's very old. Look closer and you'll find a squirrel and a branch resembling a boy's face with a hat..

An early sign of fall makes this photograph so colorful. I tried to get closer as much as I can and I must say we were both brave. Success!

Camera used: Pentax KX
Lens: Sigma DC 50-200mm
Software: Gimp
First thing I did was to adjust color levels. I used the Auto Pick black point and chose the deer's nose. Since it was the subject, I simply picked it as the darkest part. Then I lowered the mid level tone to brighten the dear's face. Then I went to adjust brightness and contrast. Added a little contrast for better saturation, and lowered brightness to minimize blown out areas of the image. Then I cropped it 1:2 ratio just to emphasize blurred foreground, and just enough to emphasize deer's cute ears. Then I used the free select tool, with feather edges of around 80, and drew a diamond shape around the deer. Clicked "select invert" and added a little gaussian blur of 5 (horizontal and vertical), simply to emphasize the deer a little more. And lastly, I did unsharp mask and despeckle both in standard settings, to make final image sharp and to reduce noise.
