I try awful hard.
This one was an experience.
I was looking to my right when I heard a heavy splash from my left.
When I turned my head and looked, the bird was floating in the lake with his wings spread and a fish in his mouth.
I still can't believe that they take fish this size.
Always thought they were the same , but, they are all different species. Some larger than others and all colored differently.
I even have a pretty good shot of one with different colored feet.
Hope you guys are well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The depth of what this camera can do, hasn't been tapped by me, that's for sure. You can micro manage anything.
And the damn thing is fast. It's not the latest greatest , but, to every latest greatest, another comes along with a heavy price tag as a door prize.

Better to learn what you have and realize the small differences in marketing hype, can't overcome ones use of light.
Do I need 18 frames per second? When 4 frames per second can do the trick? Or 30 frames per second when 18 can,, more than do it ?
These images could have been better. I just got this lens and I didnt expect to run up on somethng like these two photos.
Both were shot at 1000mm (35mm ( full frame) equivalent) using a 1.25 teleconverter.
Hand held.

I could have stopped down one stop and knocked the shutter speed down which would have knocked the ISO down.
I screwed this up. I could have had this at ISO 800 or less instead of 1250. Both images would have looked better.
But in my defense , this did kind of happen fast. And I don't know how to use this lens.

The lens is also fitted with a Hoya 95mm UV (0) - the good one. First thing.
I use them on every lens after exploring things for a while. You know what I mean.
Switched from Pentax to Olympus, because I decided to go mirrorless.Very nearly went Pentax Full Frame K1.
So, Now, I'm on a Pentax forum shooting Olympus. To this day, I don't think any of todays cameras can compensate for user skill.
Learned that the hard way.

Anyway, enough of my dumb rant.
I hope you're well today, Mike.

It arrived late yesterday. It's a beautiful lens.
I don't know how to work it yet. lol
Good indications so far though. The lens is enormous but not as enormous as a canon or Nikon equivalent.
It will be hard to hold at 1000mm, even harder at 1400mm.
Too early to tell if it will help, or hurt my game.
I don't know the lens yet. It's big and unwieldy.
Turn quickly the wrong way and someone is standing there that you didn't see, and you could knock them out cold as a cucumber.
Hope you guys are well,
LS

Breaking my own rules, because my reply will bump my post.
The honest truth, " I Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for the high praise.

More:

The lens is just a cheap lens. I bought it for a hundred bucks because I need to cover a short focal length, wide angle, now and then.
New, it cost like 400.00,, back in 2011.
With this image, I'm just testing the macro function.

The damn thing resolved the honeycombed eyes, if you pixel peep and get real close to the monitor with your glasses on , if you're visually impaired..
Or not! I might be seeing pixels. It's pretty sharp for a cheapo lens.

It's 5 blade aperture.......and I can't tell a difference. The glass seems to be pretty damn awesome , for 100 bucks.
This lens is as color accurate as my pro lenses, I think. Very little post processing is needed.
What you see up there is damn near straight out of the camera , in RAW. I do not know how that can be, but it's true.
The 47mm Macro mode gives me slightly more depth than the 60mm F2.8, at the same stop.
I don't ever shoot macro at 2.8. I might find a use for f2.8 shooting at bugs and stuff, one day. I don't see it happening any time soon.
But it could happen. Maybe. One day. If I don't die before it ever happens.

I remember my first days here on this site, I had just bought a Pentax k7, It was the neatest thing , to me.
Got a Tamron 70-200mm internal zoom, to go with it. Cost me a small fortune at that time.

Thought I was a competent photographer because I had the latest greatest.............and then........I found out quickly that I wasn't.. thanks to ThePhotoForum dot com.
I cannot thank them enough.

I know you guys see me go from one extreme to the other. From macro, to Landscape, to wildlife, birds in flight,,,,,,,,,,,,still life and everything in between.
I do this all under natural light,,,,,,,,,,,,and II do it because I'd like to be well versed and not one dimensional.
10 years , or more, later, I'm still not a photographer. I'm just a guy with a camera. I'm still learning how to use it. After all these years.

You guys inspire me. That's one of the reasons I'm still here,
Thank you.
Be well,

LS.
