This was definitely a professional alteration of the name - and the same was done on the lens so maybe it was a copyright issue. I thought it might be a US Army Base Exchange (BX) alteration (as the ID number was a 1960's US soldier serial number) but I bought two Spotmatics in the BX in Viet Nam but neither had this alteration.
Still a mystery.....

I just acquired an old beat-up black Spotmatic. Soldiers name and Mil# scratched into the pentaprism hood. But strangely the words "Asahi Pentax" lack the "a" and the "i".....likewise the bigger "PENTAX" lacks the "P" and the "X". In their places are small plastic inserts (see photo). Attachment 115704
Serial number on the camera -2821689.
Any thought, ideas...or even facts?
Thanks for any help...

I wonder if that is essentially what they are offering? They have a 6x7 adapter that then needs a "T2" Sony adapter...hmmm.

I want to adapt my 6x7 Pentax zooms to my SONY a900.
This company.. Z ...makes such a beast.
Machined in Germany and tested at the image plane for accurate back-focus and centering, and they are made of aircraft-grade anodized aluminum that will not abrade the camera mount. Aperture control is manual, metering is stop-down, though you can also use aperture priority AE.
They also have a beastly price on it .
The P67 adapter is $289, plus $89 for Sony T2 adapter (yes...both required) and shipping (standard UPS ground with insurance is $21.50)...Total is $399.50.
While that is a trifle in comparison to most any decent lens it does look "big" when compared to the couple of small rings in the package.
Anybody have one or used one...or even seen one??

When i got home your instructions worked perfectly! The "dime" is applied to the side with the "arrow" which in fact points in the direction of "Remove" ...but without that simple title or label.
Again, Many Thanks |

Do you mean to insert the knife-point into the hole beside the lug?
Or....insert knife-tip into edge of the lug-nut and pry up/outward to pull the locking tab back away from the lug-nut?

I am referencing the 6x7 in this section.
The 6x7 camera has small metal lugs. The stap has push-on metal devices that go over the lugs easily enough...BUT, how do I get them off the lugs?

....how do I remove the litttle strap-holders from the camera lugs?
There doesn't seem to be any lever, or other device and they really don't come up off the lugs at all?
Am I missing some "trick"...?
Thanks,

This is the listing...from Japan and quite expensive at $49.95...or is it?....I have only been a 6x7 guy for less than a week so it might be a bargain?

There are two types of strap-lugs - one with turned-up "ears" on the edges and one without (see photos).
Anybody have any experience with either style? Attachment 112387 Attachment 112386 |

:)Hello from DC.
Just purchased a fairly "minty" (love that ebay word!) 6x7 with MLU and TTL Meter prism, and a couple of lenses: 45, 75, 55-100 zoom. Always wanted one to play with landscapes and finely found the right time and money.
And naturally I have just a couple of questions:confused:...like where do I get a new battery and where do I find a User's Manual and any other documentation that would be useful?
Appreciate all help although at this stage of my Pentax Medium Format experience I can only offer my Thanks until I gain some experience.
Again, Hello and Many Thanks in advance,
Andy
