They seem to be inline with what I see them go for on eBay. Plus, recently my whole kit was stolen so I'm starting over from scratch. The way I see it is, I'm starting over for a lot cheaper then I started the last time. My first non-kit lens purchase was the DA*50-135 last time. :)

I just picked up a Helios MC 44m-5. I have to shoot it wide open until/when I decide to do that trick to shim the pin in... but until then, I think I found my new favorite lens. 60 bucks US I paid and a used camera shop.

funny... I didn't even really notice that. I went bak to the original and the blue is really bright. I had to move the saturation slider all the way to the left which just turns it white.

Just the normal stuff in Lightroom. Jacked up the contrast, a little clarity, messed with the blacks and whites and highlights(the sky was blown out to much to fix) and desaturated just because I like that look. I'm not PP expert so I just click the sliders till it looks like something I like :)

I just bought a MC Mir-20mm yesterday. I was a little skeptical because of the price and I've never seen the russian glass in the wild before. Just the random references here in other threads. The store I was at didn't have it priced so they just did a quick eBay search and gave it to me for $175.00 US. While the clerk was doing the eBay search I was doing a flickr search and liked what I saw so I bought it. Would anyone here be so kind as to tell me a little bit about this lens? Is this lens related at all to the helios brand I see so many references to in this thread?
Here's a pic I took with it today. Taken with my k-01 with a screw mount adaptor, then ran it through lightroom.

Hello Forum,
Been a pentax shooter since the k100d came out and since, I've owned the k10d, the k20d and a K-5.
Recently my K5 was stolen along with my... still sad ... my > Pentax-DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited - Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL - Pentax-DA* 50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM - Pentax-M 50mm F1.4 - Pentax-M 50mm F4 Macro... Yeah. Copy and pasted my Sig
Anyway, due to money and my lack of it, I've pretty much talked myself into a K-01. I love shooting macro, street and just always having my camera with me and shooting whatever really. I also love the idea of being able to throw the thing into my pocket. And this may seem weird to some, but I really like the idea of NOT "looking like a professional". BTW, I'm not even close. But my camera and gear made it look that way is all I'm sayin'. And may come across a little (censored) but I really can't wait until the next local photo meetup where I can stand next to the lady and the dude with the 5d Mll and the 4000 bucks worth of L glass who ask you "what's AV mean?" (this happened to me once) and take as good or in most cases better photos with what appears to them to be a point and shoot.
sorry... went off a little there.
Ok so the question. Since I never shot a K-01 just read some reviews, looked at samples and read the posts here, what do you think I will miss? I don't shoot sports. I don't need the speed. I don't mind the idea of using the screen as a view finder.
This almost seems to me a lateral move from the in terms of image quality right?

I can't write reviews because I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I know I love this lens so I'm putting a pic up here. Not bad for a lens I paid 90(US) bucks for.

I had mine repaired once under warranty, then I dropped it about 3 months later from a decent height. 245(US) to fix from CRISCAM.

Anyone here shoot in Vegas? Im looking for suggestions on getting up high to get shots of the strip at night. Perferably a place I can use a tripod, or at least a gorilla pod. Also, I'd prefer it to be cheapish or free, so no "take a helicopter ride" suggestions please. :) also, I won't have a car.

Hey.. Anyone have this problem before? My 50-135 won't focus at infinity. Everything under 30 feet is mine. SDM is quiet and fast (when the subject isn't moving). Pictures are sharp, but if more then 30 feet away when the lens is at infinity... nothing, no focus. Doesn't even try.
If you say it's bad and needs to be fixed, I have a second question.
The lens should still be under warranty. Only bought it 4 months ago. But I bought it via dell.com. I know... sounds crazy but I did. I have a premier account and hey had 1 left. So I don't really have a paper receipt. I'm not even finished paying for it yet :) I have the box and the little sheet of paper with the serial number. Is that good enough to get it repaired under warranty? I guess I could just call dell or the repair place but it's easier to type it here while I'm still thinking about it.
And finally, are there better service centers then others? I'm in the states, in Michigan.

It very well could be technique. By no means do I consider myself a skilled photographer. Also, most of my issues with missed focus have always been during faster paced action.

Thanks for the replies. I think it's time to rent a 16-50 or a 12-24 and do a real comparison with equal focal length and lens quality.
