Hi,
I received earlier today, two OEM D-li90's from you, and put the first one in the charger. I walked by the charger after 10-15 min., and the green light had gone out. I thought, great! I got a fully charged battery. But, when I put it in my camera (K-5), nothing. I checked the voltage with a DMM, and got 7.00 vdc. Went and put it back on the charger, and after a few seconds, the green light goes out again. I opened up the other battery and put it on the charger for about 20 min, and decided to see if it would turn on the camera. It did, showing 2/3rds battery charge on the LCD. Voltage on it measured 7.12 vdc. Put it back on the charger an hour ago, and it's still charging. Of course my old battery takes at least 6-7 hrs. to charge, and expect this one to also. The identifying numbers are the same on both boxes and batteries. Is it possible I got a bad battery, or should I just put it back on the charger and leave it there a while, and see if it comes back to life.
Thanks,
Mark

I got the same lens in an auction lot the other day, with the same problem. Since it was basically a free lens, I soaked a couple of paper towels with 91% isopropyl alcohol and went to town. It turned the towels black. So about 8 soaked towels later, the black stopped coming off, and no more sticky on the lens. I was careful not to get any alcohol inside the lens, but not careful enough to not wipe off most of the ft/meter scale, which I can no longer read. A fair trade though imo. It is a sharp little lens, but seriously doubt I'll be pulling out any flash and need to know distance.

Pentax 200mm A* Macro Asking Price
1600.00 Item Location
Oklahoma USA Item Description
This is the lens I got from James, (Roentarre) a couple of years ago. I hate to sell it, but I need the money.
The lens functions perfectly, but cosmetically is not perfect. There is a little brassing on the aperture ring, but the blades are snappy. There is a very small scratch in the coating of the rear element, that has absolutely no effect on photos. I've taken thousands of photos with this lens, and have never noticed anything out of perfection.
If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer.

I have a 500/4.5 that is barely held by an aluminum Giottos GB 3150 which has a load rating of 8kg (17.6lbs). I also use a Giottos MH 1301 ballhead which is rated for 12kg (26.5lbs).
The mirror slap gives about a two second vibration with this setup, so it's best to have a remote F, to get three seconds of settling time. My next tripod will be carbon fiber with at least a 25lb rating.

Agreed.... had a brain fart. You and Lowell are correct. And of course I could always crop a FF down to aps-c without losing any resolution of the glass....
Must resist... do not need FF...

I'm not really a landscape photographer, so I voted #3. I prefer macro and birding, and always want to be closer. I couldn't imagine going full frame and losing 50% of my length. Plus I love that my fa50 1.4 is a good portrait lens on aps-c. I would hate to need the 85...

Was flipping through the channels last night... and WHAT!? Is that a Pentax on my TV? Sure enough, QVC, one of those home shopping network channels, has a k2000 with the two kit lenses, (no external flash), for 741.00 US dollars... or 148.20 a month for five months.
No wonder my local camera shop hates Pentax. How many kits do you think QVC has to sell in order to pay for the airtime? I watched for at least five minutes before they switched to another product.

I was using a k20d. You're right, the k10 doesn't have a focus adjustment. The downside of the focus adjustment on the k20 for manual lenses, is it's generic, and changes for all manual lenses.
With the Tak, I just focus a little past where I get confirmation. If you have a fence, you should try this test as well. I'm curious if your lens has the same issue as mine.

I have the Tak 500/4.5, and it tends to front focus with the af confirmation light by 8 or 9 inches. (tested on a wooden fence). Of course the coating on one the elements is half gone, so the lens isn't perfect. But I don't think that would affect the ff/bf issue. I would adjust the camera to fix it, but none of my other manual lenses behave this way.
Here's the pic... I had focus confirmation on the center picket. The one with the black spot on it.

Maybe your lens has a slow aperture? Have you tried a different lens?

If this forum were a room, and we had all gathered to talk about our cameras and photography... Who in their right mind would start talking about politics or religion? Showing a picture of a political rally would be fine. Having a non-photographic opinion about the picture wouldn't.
In my thinking, photographers are un-biased, neutral parties who strive to capture what they see... as honestly as possible. I don't believe you can be the best photographer possible with any other agenda.
There are 50,000 other forums where you can talk politics and religion all you want... but this is the only Pentax Forums.com. Why waste the bandwidth here?
