I agree with Lowell Goudge about taking control and with Louicio that it happens in other photography disciplines. I been there and done that in both situations.
My thoughts while reading that photographer's blog article is not to fault the wedding guest; they are not the professionals. Have a plan for threshold control, but do not expect to control nature; adapt to it. I was confused to the purpose of that article: Who was its audience;what was the intent of the message? The message was negative in tone and directed harm to the client's guest. That photographer called herself professional but invited open criticism about potential clients within a website that showcases her work. Talk about the need for control! I got a feeling of "us" against "them" and thought the article made photographers sound like snobs. There was no need to make it public and open for discussion. |

Thanks, I looked at some of the San Disk Extreme III class 10 on Amazon and the Transcend. Its a bit strange cause the pictures say one thing when then scripts say another. If it says class 3 in the item picture ,it changes to the regular card and then sometimes the speeds are different. Guess you can't go by the pics cause they sometimes change once clicking. Odd. The transcend were more accurate on Amazon. Also went to B and H photo. Will check Adorama and Calumet. And my local photo store(When I checked there for cameras they did not sell Pentax DSLR).
What are you guys comfortable with as far as gigs? Would you do a minimum of 16GB on a card or 8? I am thinking that if I want to shoot raw and maybe video (not at the same time) I should go with 16GB or higher. Just don't want to invest too much into one card in case it goes bad or gets injured.

Hi, I need some help...
This is probably an over asked question , The K-5 is my first digital SLR and I am new to digital...trying to get a fix on what card to get for my K-5.
What is your favorite memory card to use in the K-5?
Any Recommendations?
Thanks!

Hello all,
My name is Alec and I am from nice and warm West Michigan with no snow this December 21st(yahoo!).
I have worked as a commercial freelance photographer's assistant for 17 years, then went back to college to get another degree where I sit today. Believe it or not I just bought my first digital SLR camera, the K-5 ( I think I made a good choice). I am getting back into photography and will be using the K-5 for some studio work and out door shots. I actually had a digital camera that came with my first computer back in 2000 called the Chameleon Mega with a whopping 1.3 mega pixels! It reminded me of a Diana or Holga camera. It did what it did and you took what it gave you.
The bad thing is that I am not that knowledgeable about digital SLR cameras. I used large format film cameras for my personal use and while working with the professionals as an assistant we used Digital Sinar Large format cameras. I was not an digital assistant, but the guy who did the lighting of the photo sets. So I guess I can say that I am new to digital. I am slow to upgrade also,I still have Photoshop CS 1. But I just bought a bunch of new software to get going with my new camera.
I got to say this site looks like great site and I have enjoyed using the lens reviews it offers. Also I tuned into the K-5 and this site because somebody talked about it being on sale during cyber Monday at Amazon. Its a good thing my research got connected to their post. THANKS! I was lucky to get the K-5 on Amazon too,my first time doing those lighting deals.
Currently I am having problems trying to find the right memory card for the K-5. Anyone got favorites? CLASS 10...?
If not here, I'll post in the right spot.
Thanks.
