Photo taken at night with two Nikon SB25 Speedlights set to 1/2 power covered in clear zip-loc baggies in the background to rim the subjects and to illuminate the water droplets.
One Nikon SB25 Speedlight inside the photographic umbrella aimed up and set to 1/4 power and the zoom set to 20mm with the diffusor down.
Rain was produced with a garden hose.
Post processing in Photoshop to increase the contrast, clarity and black level.

Hi DeadJohn,
Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment.
PP involved some color adjustments to the blacks, slight saturation and vibrance adjustments as well as contrast. But no sharpening was used. It is just the way it worked out...her head must have been more stable than her hands!

Taken while standing on their dining table, the model was asked to sit on the floor in front of a large window with diffused daylight. Selective focus was used and placed over the closest eye. Zoom was set at 85mm and was tricky to handhold at 1/20th shutter speed.

Thank you both for your observations. It is so good to get an objective opinion on one's work.
The model was very much pregnant.....part of the thinking behind this pose was to focus on the woman's fitness so late in term and with a pilates/healthy lifestyle message. Perhaps this is why the belly doesn't stand out as much as a traditional maternity portrait? Also, while laying on her back...gravity does play a role in diminishing the size of the belly. Try this pose a few times yourself and you'll quickly see the core strength of the model---and we do it without a fully developed child in there!
Thanks again for your professional observations. They will be helpful next time around.

One of a maternity photo session.
Shot against a fabric black background gently drooped down and across the floor under the model.
One Nikon Sb-25 speedlight was used in a Westcott shoot through umbrella held above model.
Pentax 18-55mm kit lens was used at 26mm.

Patajac,
Thanks for looking anyway! I guess we are all free to focus on whatever features we're drawn to.
Certainly wasn't the intention of the photo....I was drawn to the intent gaze myself.

Model raised about 40cm off of floor
Camera supported on pillow, on floor with 18mm, 1/160th, f/20, iso 800, and focused midshaft of golf club.
2 Nikon SB-25 aimed at backdrop and ceiling
1 Nikon SB-25 just above camera on stand and shoot-through white Westcott 43" umbrella
The idea is aimed at a sporting store's promotion.
This shot pushes the limits of this kit lens a bit too far as the optics really start to fail at this aperture and sharp focus becomes pretty much impossible. One day the budget will permit something better....

Thanks Rense, you might be right, it would be more clean without that light in the bottom of the glass. Thanks for taking the time.

Was a great location despite not being the most original place in town now...till the fog and cold rolled in. Also make sure you or the groom pays the $200 to be able to use the location or you will be asked to leave! We had done so but others didn't and the security was quite strict with them.
Thanks for looking.
