Wow, glad I invested in my m43 used lens stash early last year, then.

I have:

the Oly 1.8 'trinity': 17mm, 25mm and 45mm
the f8 body cap lenses: 9mm 'fisheye' and 15mm
a Tamron 14-140 zoom
Pany 14mm f2.5
and two 14-42 EZ Zoom lenses (bought E-M10 II and III kits new, one is silver for the III and black for the II)

Yet another BW400CN fan here. I'd love to see it return so I can take double exposures with my MIJ film *ist.

Shot that stock with a K1000 for a while from 2005 to 2012.

One of my favorite shots with BW400CN, taken with a SMC Pentax-A 35-80mm F4-5.6 lens, K1000 and Vivitar 2000 bounce flash.

Major FF vibes with that lens! Nicely done. If I didn't know these were shot on m43, I would have guessed they were film shots.

No. If I score a EM-1 II or III (or even a X), sure, that's when I would buy one.

K-x info/live view screen not working

I hadn't done anything at all with the K-x since I created this post. A few hours ago, this happened... I meant to open the body to inspect the wiring, but... THIS HAPPENED!

Immediately checked on the live view to be sure I wasn't out of my mind, that was working... :)

Last photo is a quick test shot of the live view, using the kit 18-55mm zoom.

Nothing short of a miracle I suppose. I tested the K-x for a few hours, and the LCD's holding up. Looks like I shall use this now for my turkey day shots, preferably with the 21mm DA Limited lens.

PS, need to adjust the clocks on the K-x and Panasonic ZS-100.

I bought it so I could shoot low light shots with a zoom (wide to short telephoto here). A bit heavy, but well worth it.

K-x info/live view screen not working

I'll have to check my cable stash and see if I have a USB/composite cable that'll allow me to hook my K-x to my 24 inch 720p tv. If I do, I'll try it.

Noted, thanks. It could be but I don't have any issues taking photos and changing some settings via OVF.

No. If you saw the photo I took of the K-x monitor above, you'll notice I have the camera turned on but the monitor is glowing dark gray. I can't reach any of the menus.

K-x info/live view screen not working

Ha, yep.

No firmware info, though the display still lights up in the grayish dark tone. At least I set it in RAW+JPEG mode with the JPEG quality left at 3 stars. Max res for the Jpegs... guess I'll have to replace the screen at some point. I'm fairly adept at taking apart electronics, and have already read up on some tips on how to replace it. I updated the K-x firmware to 1.03 a few years ago. I've had the camera since 2010.

In the meantime, the OVF LED's work and I figured out how to switch from auto to manual ISO in aperture mode. That's good enough for me (for now), it's how I typically use the K-x these days. I fixed the zoom/setting ring on the back last year. I scored a K-70 around that time, so I can't complain too much.

Thanks for the help. Oh ya, remembered to set the green button for DOF preview way back as well!

I can't set anything without it coming up fully. I can take photos with the camera with the current settings, use it in manual mode etc... just no info screens. The info inside the OVF is functioning.

The first photo was taken with the K-x, and the 21mm f3.2 DA Limited lens. At this point the monitor wasn't functioning anymore. The second shows the camera turned on, with a grayish dark screen but no info displayed. I also checked the four Energizer Ultimate lithium batteries with a multimeter, and each one registers at 1.64 V.

How do I go about resetting the camera in this situation? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks. This is a photo I shot with the 18-135 lens last September + the K-70, just outside of B&H Photo in New York City. I scored a used Sigma 17-50 2.8 zoom lens while at B&H.

Neat! if that is indeed the 18mm shot, doesn't look too shabby. All that foliage might be masking some of the vignetting, but it's fine otherwise. Guess that means I should start saving for a K-1 or II then. I have an older FF KA Tamron 28-200, and the 35 and 50mm DA APS-C lenses work pretty well with my film *ist with very little vignetting. :) My 18-135 is the kit lens with the K-70.

Questions about Live View on K-70

Honestly... I don't find live view to be slow at all.

At least for me, the live view speed compares favorably to my MILCs: Sony a6300, and my Olympus E-M10's (II and III). For me it depends on the lens; my primes focus fairly quickly, while it hunts a bit more with zoom lenses. The one zoom I own that focuses nearly as quick as the primes is the Sigma 17-50 f2.8, constant aperture. It's a bit heavy, but I don't mind.

I haven't been around here much lately, but I have seen this behavior in some other Pentax related forums, for instance in reddit and facebook. I'm glad the moderators here are on top of the issues. I also happen to use Olympus cameras, so I've noticed it twofold... that sale to Japan Industrial Partners appears to be potentially good, and they are going ahead with some new products for this year, but we'll see.

Keep up the good work!

Grateful that you posted this. Already have this saved as a pdf and printed out to a binder with a couple of older Pentax film camera manuals (K1000 and *ist <--- this one is EPIC for an entry level SLR, for good reasons).

Thanks!

Adding to the choir... I've been using a Watson battery + their compact charger as a backup to the K-70 original, since I bought the camera last summer (July 2019). No issues.

Better video capability would be great, including the advanced S-Log settings and 4k at 30, 60 and short 120 fps bursts.

Some of us would love that, so we don't have to lug another system of lenses somewhere else. As it is, I juggle between my K-70 and a Sony a6300 MILC these days.
