So if I send it in to Pentax, should I send it along with my camera? I'm going to do some tests with my other lens' first to see if its just my camera...

With camera on a tripod, I placed a focus chart parallel to the sensor (the lens point to it at 90 degrees) and next to it I had a ruler at 45 degrees with the "focus" line intersecting the focus chart. I used the 45 degrees chart to see where it actually achieved best focus. I then adjusted the camera to correct for front/back until I got an image when both the vertical card was in perfect focus and the DOF on the ruler was equally distributed from the center focus line. I've done this with other lenses and its worked fine. Like I saiud, with the -10 adjustment I can get perfect sharp focus at the point I am aiming at when the lens is set between 50-70 mm, 70-135 is just fuzzy. am I doing this wrong?? ugh.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has had this same problem:
I was calibrating my lens for the first time because I noticed it was back focusing, so I changed the autofocus adjustment to -10 (which seemed like a lot) and this helped a lot... but only at the 50-70mm point. My main concern is when I focus in on an object at 70-135mm it doesn't focus well. Everything is a little fuzzy. Not sharp at all. Should OI be sending this lens in for maintenance or is there something I can do to fix this issue? HELP PLEASE!!

Thanks all. This is helping
I was thinking this shortly after posting. I am more of a landscape/nature photographer myself so I am naturally drawn to getting shots of landscape scenes, and now thinking about it, when I set up the camera, I was setting up the landscape to have me in it. I guess it doesn't really work that way. haha I am excited though to try it with a model as I couldn't really see where the reflector was hitting as well as the sun. (I had my 9 year old holding the reflector and telling him where to point it based on the reflective light hitting my face...poor kid!) And I agree, playing around with angles could have helped as well as sun positioning? I just didn't like how the landscape looked from another position... again with landscape in mind. Oh gosh, I have alot to work on.
Thanks again to everyone for all your advice and pointers, I look forward to posting more and getting more advice from you all!!

Thank you all so much for the advice! Portraits are so new to me it definitely takes me out of my comfort zone. I can take street shots no problem, but settign up a photo to take a portrait seems wierd to me... I did use a reflector in this shot (it was about 7 in the am) with the sun shining on the left (subject's right)...so I guess I just have to figure out the proper angles to soften it up a bit? I agree, no emotion but I was just practicing lighting. To be honest with you this is a self portrait. I didn't want to have to bother someone to come out in the morning with me, so I just ran to the spot where I thought the reflector was hitting and to where I had tried to focus into. Next time I will use a model cause I am defintiely not as good at being infront of the camera as behind! lol (embarrassing) But I wanted to see how it would kind of turn out. haha
BTW I re-added the photo with the real colors the other one was dull... I didn't know saving as adobe rbg made a difference on the web

No, I saved as AdobeRGB. That is industry standard is it not? I could try that just for posting on the web... Hopefully it works

Hi all, so I am practicing doing portraits. Its is not my strongest talent but I'd like it to get better. This was done in the am using a reflector for fill light. Any suggestions to better this? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you so much!

Help please... I'm not sure what it is that is bugging me about these phots. i love the building but I think the tree is throwing me off or maybe its the composition of the building? ugh. I'm terribly picky and self critic myself to the point I lose track of what I was going for in the first place or the positive aspects of the photo... help would be appreciated!! Thank you!;)

Thanks for your opinions jford! I appreciate it. I didn't even notice the clouds till you pointed it out so thank you! And I agree with the third photo... more positive energy for sure. It is nice to hear what others think and see. I critique myself so hard, I get nervous to even post.

Advice and thoughts to help me out?? Teach me people! I have been trying to find something to submit for school. Is there something you would have done different? Is it good enough? Should I try again? It's hard to critique your own photos... Loved the building... No editing done except resizing to fit thread requirements

Great! Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
I think your right about the extra components Special K. It makes it a little busy and your eyes aren't directed at the strings like I wanted... thank you for that . I may have to do some cropping? Or just take more pictures and see what else I can get ;) Editing make me nervous for some reason...
