Showing Images In Finder

Firstly i hope this is in the right thread...

Im using a Mac and its slightly annoying that in order to see my raw images (.pef) i need to open them one by one in preview and then don't show up in the finder, instead its like a camera shutter.

I know i could open in Photoshop but i would like to be able to see them in finder as well. anyone else got this problem or know how to fix? :)

beautiful pictures... sadly there is not a lot of wildlife where i live, Im reading up on bokah portraiture atm online in-between carrying on with understanding exposure book. I do live in the middle of fields are forests though so i may have to put my boots on and try take some more bokah pictures, this time remembering that distance from subject to background needs to be large and distance from me to subject needs to close..ish..

That right? way i read it,..

Ahh wow, when i was reading i read it as the more aperture and bigger distance the better, which is why i was using the tele lens, the tree is a good 15-20 m away..

just put the k18 - 55m lens on and decided to try items on my desk, the camera wldnt focus on the trackpad so did a mouse instead :) i love it :D

Ahh right, i was searching the forums for depth of field but now i think i may have only searched the k-r topic, ill bear that word in mind :D

god to hear about the lens, ill have to get closer to that tree next time! :D

sorry i forgot to say which lens its the 50 - 200mm, however the min is f4 at 50m & f5.6 at 200m, that shot was at 200m with aperture of 5.6 (lowest it could be) , maybe this is reason to invest in a new lens :P iim still learning atm and have no idea what to purchase, atm i have the 50 - 200 and the 18 -55 , the main use of the camera once i get the hang of it will be to take portrait pictures and scenery while I'm working away :)

Well today i wanted to get a grip with DOF, before reading Understanding exposure and learning a bit id never heard of it so it is new to me, dnt think I've done bad thigh,, i do wish i could of got a smaller DOF and made the background blurred a bit more, but i was using the largest aperture i could and prated around with all the other settings and that was about the best shot :) would be interesting to see others DOF pictures to see how they did them and any advice is always welcome :)

i got mine for christmas and am a complete noob to photography.

Sure I've taken some 99% terrible pictures, 1% good. but atm I'm putting that down to user - error. atm i absolutely love the camera its self!

I'm still an absolute noob to photography and that picture is better than most I've taken.

My theory is if your new at something you can't expect to be brilliant within a hour, day, week, month. (not saying you expect to be btw) but i believe most of my dodgy images are due to the fact i know very little about actual photography. The reviews of the camera speak for its self and like anything most things are down to user error.

But like i say that image is better than 99% of what I've taken!

I got recommended the Understanding exposure book by bryan peterson, I'm two chapters in and engulfed... its defiantly a good read! id even go to say near as good as harry potter!

Well today i got the understanding exposure book and managed to get the first two chapters done. Im quite a fastish learner and think i understand the basics of the triange. got some reasonable shots tonight, went out to my favourite restaurant and got a good picture of the guy with the wok! took a couple of attempts... i forgot flames are bright! 90% of pictures tonight was in manual exposure mode as well so pretty chuffed :D

what you think?

think I'm going to have to read up about focusing on people. tonight all images of people front face was just not focused. through the viewfinder the focus points keep going around the head. unless i set the focusing to 11 and i roughly put the focus on a head. with more than one person it was very disappointing, but once again I'm learning so its expected i suppose :) bit disheartening thgh.. tried Af-s mainly after it been recommended but also tried af-a and af-c. All with same results.

However if i go through the LCD screen to focus it seems to pick it up a lot better and focus in on a point of a persons face which is good but i really don't want to use the screen all the time? This was the best pic i got of someone all night and its the mrs (she looks very annoyed cos id literally been taking photos all day and she's been the dummy!) before we left i tried to small DOF and just get her clear with a blury background but i still think it could be better..

Any suggestions? Im also still confused about uploading pics with info.. think i need to find the guide!!

So what's the best way to upload the photo? So i know dor future reference . ATM I'm just exporting the raw to jpeg via photoshop....

I've changed to af-s now I'll try that :)

However since it doesn't refocus as I move or zoom out a bit will it not be out of focus and need to press the shutter button by half again? To refocus on what I want after I have moved?

if i could take pictures like that i would be happy.. the main issue I'm facing is focusing i think.. it never seems to focus on faces when i want.. what settings where u using? so far I've tried the auto 5 n 11.

Tonight the light wasn't the issue thanks to all your tips on the settings seemed to work really well. this is the best pic of the night of my two friends. just wish it had of focused a little more :(.. or am i just been to picky?

Noob question coming, but why when you have a larger aperature and less light coming in y the shutter speed is a lot slower than at a smaller aperature when iso remains the same ?

That makes sense... Focus points are on and set to auto 11 at the moment.. Maybe that's where I'm going wrong take pictures of people ... Gonna try set to the grid so I know where it's focusing

I'm off to a pub quid tn8 with friends .. Light will be poor and rather not use flash to draw attention so not sure what my pics will be like but hoping there will be good :) thank u for ur advice..
