Om film cameras the motordrive was the grip. DSLR's dont need a motordrive but some folks missed the grip - so here it is. My preference when using tripod mounted telephoto lens is to not use the grip on my K5iis, less weight stress on the lens mount. However, with smaller lens and handholding, the grip provides that extra weight stability making the camera easier to hold. Shootng in portrait orientation the extra shutter release on the grip can be used without putting your fingers in contortions.
The single only reason I bought it however is to have that extra battery power.

Also....very interesting blog here. Goes into the history of Pentax. Touches on a lot of things everyone in this forum already knows......and some things we may not have known.

This camera doesn't cease to amaze me with the latitude it opens (aka margin of screwup ) . This is photo taken shooting directly into the sun (DFA 28-105). I think I am ready to put film to rest.

Tamron 70-200 f2.8 with the Pentax 1.4 converter the camera went into auto crop mode. Didn't expect that at all. Without the converter FF mode was selected automatically

We all can always seek out reflections and shoot them. What i like about this is the art, the way the reflections seem to create another image of a flower. And then, there is the photographic spontaenity....spot the moment.....capture it in perfect symmetry. You can't plan this one (not easily) thats why this gets my vote.
