I'd use this lens more if it felt nice in the hands, like a limited. Still, the quality is there.

Ken Rockwell said that about the SMC-M F1:1.7

I've always found the 18-55 DAL II to be surprisingly good. So much so that I can't be seen to get rid of it.
Here's what I've pulled out of it so far... Parc l'Orme by Gn!pGnop, on Flickr Lola by Gn!pGnop, on Flickr Apartment by Gn!pGnop, on Flickr
The details on this shot are incredible. 100% crops reveal a lot. Sunshine by Gn!pGnop, on Flickr
Your new tamron is a great lens, but the kit lens isn't too shabby at all. :)

The more you research the more you'll justify whatever thought you have in your head. Get off the Internet and go take pictures. You won't regret your purchase if you do that. The K5 is a great camera. Get out of the house and go do it!

Do you find yourself hitting the flash release button by accident when walking around? Maybe you've pulled your K5 out of your knapsack with your flash popped open? I worry about it possibly getting broken off because of how easily the flash can accidentally pop open from a gentle press of the button.
Most of you probably don't have this minor concern/problem, but for those that do, I've found a solution.
Pentax ships the K5 with a little plastic Pentax branded slide cover over the view finder. Go dig that out of the box in your closet and slide it over the flash hot shoe.
Ta da! No more flash popping open in your bag accidentally.

Since it's such a popular and recurring topic on here, I thought I'd help shed some light on the subject with an article explaining some technicalities. Are your pictures out of focus? |

The weather outside is crappy making everything brown, so I had to get creative.
