Hey Adam,
After reading some other posts re: mode dial, I took a look and noticed it's doing it with Custom 2 & 1 as well, so that's three modes in a row. Putting the dial somewhere in between green and P works! Thank you for that tip.
Guess I'll have to live with it or bite the bullet and spend 4 Benjamins for repair. :-(

Good evening friends,
A few months ago we had a party and I wanted to take some quick casual pictures, so I set my camera to green mode and went about taking some shots. They were all coming out overexposed and so I switched to program mode and everything was fine. When I had time to see what was going on, I noticed that when I turned the dial to the green mode, the camera instantly went into manual mode. The only way I can get green mode to stay on is to hold the mode dial down. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if there's any fix for it without having to send in for repairs? I've been using manual mode quite a bit since this happened so I guess that's a positive thing, but green mode is convenient when you don't have time to set up the shot.
This happens with all of my lenses and the firmware is the most recent release.
Thanks in advance for any input you can offer.
Phyllis

I have the Kata 3N1 30. The top compartment is large enough for a few accessories and my Dell 10v netbook! Love Kata bags!

Congrats on being able to score causeway tickets. Discovery and seven astronauts are officially scheduled to blast off to the International Space Station at 6:21 a.m. April 5, so it will still be pretty dark. Try to use your tripod and get a time lapse so you can enjoy watching the launch through your eyes, rather than the lens.
I am very fortunate to be about 8 miles south of the launch pad and watch every launch (rockets, too) from my backyard. In the event you were unable to get up to KSC, I was going to suggest the 528 causeway over the Banana River. Park on whichever side (east/west-bound) from which you'll be heading after the launch. This will help when a gazillion cars all try to leave at the same time. Being on the causeway (any of them) is awesome because of the water reflection. Titusville is very difficult because there are limited parking and viewing areas, and the traffic is horrendous with US1 and all of the stop lights.
We have family coming down from Ohio, three of which have never seen a launch, so we're excited to experience it with them!

I've had the 540 for about a year and was so intimidated by it, I never used it! A few days ago I got a wild hair to give it another go, and had a blast! Off camera wireless was so much easier than I thought. I also finally figured out why I had a shadow at the bottom of all of my close-ups. I didn't realize you had to push the bounce lock release button and drop the flash to -10. Now my only problem is the equipment is so HEAVY!:)

We have an Osprey that lives at the end of our dock (we have several perches). This is a once in a lifetime shot for me, coming straight down the dock!

It's been 6 hours. I'll go for it, although it's not a great shot and taken before I had my Pentax K10D.

I'd like to see a wide angle of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.:D

OK, it's a yellow flower. But I took this photo yesterday before I saw this month's contest. Pentax K10D, Quantaray 300mm macro, F/8, 1/180sec., ISO 200.

Hello all! I stumbled upon this site while searching for information on using my new AF540FGZ flash. I can't believe I have a flash that comes with an instruction manual!! I've been into photography since childhood, but really started experimenting when I received my first digital camera in 2001 (I have over 30K digital photos...just now starting to delete the dupes and bad ones!). Earlier this year, I purchased the K10D and now I want to learn how to really use it!
Thank you for all the great posts...and I look forward to many more!

Someone else found another idea that works with the K10D....a universal remote!
I tried it with a GE Universal laying around not being used. I programmed the AUX button with code 012 and it works!:)
