I was just thinking the same thing myself about the front dial - ergonomically, it really seems to be a step backward. Also, this camera may also be problematic for those of us who use back button focus. I'm not entirely convinced that this is the replacement for the K3II and would be bit surprised, given the target market of the K3ii...

Mmmm...no patent latch mechanism on the battery grip and the lens seems to cast back to a hint of takumar.

Thanks all for the insite. I may just keep a lookout for another lens for parts.

I am cleaning a Takumar 55mm. The problem I have come across is that there is a bit of haze between the the inner rear lenses.
I have removed all of the bonding stuff with acetone, but the inner lenses still won't come apart. Any ideas on how to seperate the glass would be greatly appreciated. |

Thanks for the advice - I should have explained that I have been into photography for about 10 years and have the aperture, focus and zoom sussed :o. It is just the 2 extra rings on the Kiron that i haven't encountered before. From playing around, I think the outer ring furtherest from the aperture ring limits the focus. Still unsure about the inner (closest to the A-ring) Macro ring.

I have just purchased a Kiron 70-210 f4 with Zoomlock. Brilliant lens.
The question relates to the two rings...to be honest I am unsure how these are used and how to get macro . I have worked out infinity, but it is the first time I have encountered a lens with the two rings like this.
Is possible someone could explain these for me? I so far haven't been able to find any info about using the lens.

Just a quick hello to all on the forum. I just "migrated" to Pentax (K-5) and am absolutely loving it - just a great, intuitive camera. :)
I originally had a Minolta 7D -superb camera. But after waiting for Sony to offer something comparable, I moved to Nikon (D300s & D90) for 18 months. Good in their own right, but not a good fit me and couldn't quite feel relaxed wth it as I could with the Minolta . Found them not to be a natural fit - if that makes sense.
I enjoy taking pics of just about anything - hard to catagorise what I prefer. Also, have a bit of thing for M42 lenses.
Cheers all.
