Agreed, its my first dslr, styling and price were a decider.
Also frustrated by its inconsistent white balance, and blooming on LEDs, it just doesn't seem spot on like the RX-100. I'm not skilled enough yet, to go all manual and not care or fix it in post, fiddling with sliders. I really don't see why they can't fix this with a firmware update.
Coming from point-and-shoots, like Canon S95, RX-100, I never thought this would be bothering me so much. If I hadn't bought so many lenses I would switch to the Sony A7. Let's see...

My digital Casios still live. The once 'Made in Japan' titans. Circa 80s & 90s. From the left, the TV controller, the Phone Dialer, the Car Race game watch, The Scramble Fighter game watch (Courtesy my brother Mudasser).

If size isn't a issue. This lens can easily replace my primes. My fast primes are FA (35mm) so they endup being 75mm, and space isn't always available.
Primes force me to learn. This will be fast at capturing people.
Practically speaking, this will make my K-30 really versatile. So when I go on vacations I just take a Sigma Art 18-35 and my 18-135 WR. Shoot in the dust/rain with the WR. If weather is not a concern then this will stay on all the time.
Waiting to see autofocus results with the K-30...

Color bloom, Yuck! Don't like the way the K-30 handles blue LEDs. AWB is quite questionable in sunrise/sunset and LED light conditions.

You're right, but the blue bleeding isn't that pronounced. At this point and I'm well and truly entrenched with Pentax with all the lenses I bought. However I did a search with the Nikon D7000 and couldn't find any threads like these. So something's a miss here.
Can someone please post some more samples if they can?

They might be evil, but Sony knows how to handle them easily in full auto modes.
I think this is a Pentax specific issue. All my fast wide aperture Pentax lenses (f/1.4, f1.7, f/2) can't do anything if the sensor can't handle some simple LED lamps. I don't think Pentax engineers would've missed something so glaring obvious.
Surely this must've been reported to them?

In low light conditions I'm getting lotta heavy blues in different locations, with different lenses. It seems the Auto White Balance just fails in low light conditions. No luck with different scene modes either.
Is AWB accuracy this bad on the K-30? My comparisons are with the Sony RX-100, which has phenomenal auto mode.
Photos in this album were taken with a 18-135mm WR and FA 50mm f/1.7 lenses. Uploads are full res with exif preserved on Picasa. https://picasaweb.google.com/115055220406235410003/K30WhySoBlue?authuser=0&a...eat=directlink

Just give me a K-5 IIs/K-30 like, rugged mirror-less, where all K-mount lenses still work and I'll be a happy camper.

So does this mean, some people can actually make more money off their used lenses, which might not be more than a few months old :D
Side note: I'd be happy with a rugged WR K-mount APC-S mirror-less. My eyesight doesn't help with the optical viewfinder.

Most stuff is cheaper in the US. I pay NY tax plus shipping to the UAE on some stuff and it's still cheaper. Not just camera gear. Mostly because of Amazon US.
We have high mark up European prices thrust upon us, plus local markups. People are now wising up buying from Amazon and using services like shopandship.com.

It seems prices of other older lenses also rose on eBay. Bought the FA 50mm f/1.7 for $280, two weeks ago, its now $390. I already have all I need, only missed the 31mm f/1.8.
