i met some problems w/ paypal and the lens is back into the market.
i did 2 transfers in this chinese new year holiday and all were cancelled by paypal. the seller usually got response as followed 'This payment was automatically returned by PayPal on Feb xx, 2010 because the funds were unclaimed for 30 days. '
but paypal told me "Your transaction was cancelled because your account was restricted on Feb 1x, 2010."
why? they said,
" •Feb 1x, 2010: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. Because protecting the security of your account is our primary concern, we have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features. We understand that this may be an inconvenience but please understand that this temporary limitation is for your protection.
(Your case ID for this reason is xx-xxx-xxx-xxx.) "
I guess, they caught my visiting my account with an ip address in china and then froze my account. I had been in US working for my degree and then worked as an engineer for years before going home in beijing in mid 2008. left a few grands in US accounts rarely visited though, as well as recent transactions may make them suspect that i'm a chinese hacker :(
I'm sending paperwork to paypal to confirm my status and then resolve this problem, but don't know how much time they'll take before remove the limits on my account (it usually cost 2 weeks for the paperwork to reach there, i think). for this reason, i feel oblidged to withdraw my offer for the da* 300.
as mentioned, the withdrawn is not about the lens. i got some other lens from this seller, chemxaj, in late 2008, great experience.

good lens.
to me, IQ @ f2 is almost the same as 43 @ f1.9, however, it can shoot wide open.
some testing shots w/ k-m (2000) @ f1.4, resize 'n crop only

from time to time you may find both 40 n 50 are a little bit too long for street photography in a crowded city like hongkong, so i recommend FA 31, it's expensive, but you'll love it, not only in the street, but everywhere else :D

my vote goes to FA31, though a little above the budget, if you get a good 2nd hand copy it worths every penny you spend, and it's definately the best lens (if DA30 does not come out) in that focal range .

neither of my DA40, DA* 16-50 and 50-135 can generate as good pictures as FA 50/1.4 does. I also have a 31 and 77 (black), 31 is my favorite, and i use it a lot. as for 77, it's another favorite, but has been put in the box for more than a year. should I get a 43 ltd, to complete the FA ltd fleet, or get a brand new DA* standard lens? btw, the local dealers here in beijing city of china are selling them with similar price tags -- 43ltd black brand new for 3180 CNY (464 USD) , & DA* 55 for 3760 CNY (549 USD), or should I exchage my 77 w/ a new *55? (they're sold as exactly the same price)

to me this kind of comparison doesnot make sense at all. in such a beautiful day even 18-55 can generate very nice pictures when shooting at f8-f11. what makes 31 the best lens is its performance in lowlight , especially shooting people

both Sigma 1020 and sigma 12-24 are stellar lenses.
i guess the only thing that da 15 impresses ppl is its size.
