Mine are missing the black dot on the selftimer lever, seems also very common. Also a lot of these M-cams are missing the top part of the wind lever, also common on M's, who did say these were sturdy build cameras?

Indeed not easy: one can only change the lensmount part after an almost complete disassemble, at least the mirror housing should come off.

This broken lever should be placed under the bottom of the mirror housing where it is attached to other levers and a very strong spring. I see the same lever risiding in my MG, albeit in a dark color. Since the MG is one of the last types of the M-series I guess this part should be available in every M. Your lever has a broken ring where the screw mounts that attaches the lever to the body.
Btw I know someone in the Netherlands who might have that part, he just sent me some other parts from a parts M-camera

I appreciate your advice but if it is only a question of cleaning the shutter then I first want to try that before I use the camera as a parts camera (where I initially bought it for)

I did go a little deeper than that....took out the whole reflexhousing, replaced the bumper and lubed. But I have to get out the shutter outsince the first curtain is stuck due to a worn out (leaking) kind of bumper. Problem: the two screws holding the shutter to the body are stuck like hell.
How to loosen up these screws?
looking at these pictures found on the web, it seems more people are having a hard time getting out the srews... |

Hello all,
I just took over a nice collection of five Pentax slr'ses from a collector. Until now I almost exclusively was busy with rangefinder camera's. Since most of the Pentaxes appear in a good user state, I want to go taking pictures with them asap. This forum seems most adequate for questions for a beginning 'Pentaxian' likeme, and exchange of experience! :)
MV1, ME, ESII, S1a, SV
Well, if you allow me, I have two questions to start with.
1. The M42 mount camera's didn't come with a lens. Which standard lens would you recommend - I am thinking of lenses which came originally with these camera's;
2. The MV1 is missing its cover of the winding lever: if someone has a spare part laying around I would be most interested (may be chrome or black), not sure if it is leaking light without the cover.
Btw I serviced many rangefinder camera's (for myself and other users) in the past and if needed I will also CLA the Pentaxes.
