What's the difference? I always thought that 'speedlight' and 'strobe' referred to the same thing in photography. They are different from continuous lighting.

I usually don't want to shoot birds with wide open aperture. The DOF is simply too thin, and my Sigma 70-300 isn't that sharp wide open.
So my approach is TAv mode, aperture fixed on f/8, shutter fixed on 1/250, and ISO floating.
To get back to the original subject of this topic: No, the K5 doesn't have Nikon's low shutter-speed restriction, but I think you can use TAv mode in a lot of the use cases you would use that nikon setting. Actually, it does resemble the nikon mode a lot: only, you don't specify a mininum shutter-speed, but only a fixed one.

This means you either have no lens attached at all, or you have an (older) manual lens attached with the aperture ring set to something other then 'A', or one that doesn't have an 'A' setting on the ring.

I checked the manual of my Metz 58 AF-1, and all I can find is the opposite what you want: use the flash for AF-beam, but don't flash when taking a photo...
I couldn't find how to disable the Metz's AF-beam...

Pioneer, you are confusing Sv and Tv mode.
Tv mode is the one you describe where you select the shutter-speed and the camera controls aperture and possibly iso.
Sv mode is 'sensitivity' priority mode: you select the iso sensitivity, and the camera selects shutter speed and aperture.
To answer the original question: yes, that's kind of redundant, as you can get the same result using P-mode with any ISO setting other then 'auto'.
P mode (or hyper-P mode as Pentax calls it usually) is also able to act as Av or Tv mode, just by turning the front/rear e-dial, it temporary changes the way it works and sets a chosen aperture (rear dial) or shutter speed (front dial).

I'm not sure why you want SR-on for a flying bird (or did you mean the other way? SR-on for sitting birds, SR-off for flying ones? In that case, you can ignore the rest of my comment).
SR helps stop camera-motion, not subject-motion. You can only freeze moving subjects by using a high enough shutter speed.

I'm not exactly sure how that one works on a K20D, but on the K5 you can reprogram the raw/fx button to enable bracketing

I think the Shake Reduction (SR) might not do you any good. That works well to reduce camera shake, but in this case it is your object that is moving. I'm not really sure how good it functions when panning, but it could be you will get better pictures with SR off here.

That's not true. And I seriously would hesitate to buy a camera with zero shuttercount, because that either means:
- the camera is new, and was not tested at all in the factory (quality control??)
- as I think that's highly unlikely, it also could be someone tampered with it somehow, so the count is actually much higher...
Having said that, 3300 does sound like too much for a new camera...

No, you won't miss it. The K-5 has a very nice DOF preview function: it's integrated in the on-off switch: Just turn it from off to on, and then one notch further enables the DOF preview. When released, it springs back into the normal on-position.
You just have to be sure to set the preview mode to 'optical preview' (Menu>Record 5>Button Customization>Preview Dial), otherwise you get a digital preview on the lcd screen.

If you use an M-lens, or an A-lens with the aperture ring not set in the A-mode, the built-in flash of your camera will always give a burst at full power.
The reason for this is that to determine correct flash exposure, the K5 gives a pre-flash, with the aperture wide open. It has to know what aperture wide-open is, and what aperture is going to be used when shooting the real photo.
Now, for an A-lens with the aperture ring locked in the A-setting, I'm not sure if P-TTL flashing should work, but I believe it is mentioned in the manual somewhere. Try searching for P-TTL and manual lenses in there.

Both the Nikon D4 and the Canon 1D are full-frame cameras, so to compare them with a APS-C sensor format Pentax K5 is rather pointless I think :)
I do like Heie's comparison picture with all kinds of camera's!

I doubt the two answers above really answer your questions.
About the multi-exposure question: I'm not sure, but I guess you need to apply the EV correction manually to get good exposure on the combined image.
The one-push-bracket issue is quite simple: you press the button once, but the camera just takes three pictures. So, the shutter is fired three times, once for every picture.
