Brand new Sigma 18-250 with K5 IIs body. Pictures are over exposed. Need to step exposure compensation down to -1 to avoid over exposure. Why is that? All my other Pentax lenses don't need to set exposure compensation.

I happen to notice that when the top display LCD back-light is ON and looking from a front angle the displayed information will disappear. Is this normal?
This is brand new camera that I got 2 days ago.

There are cases like landscape where I don't mind fisheye distortion but in other cases where the are people in the picture it makes them look bad. Tried post lens correction in Lighroom but I didn't like the outcome. For this reason I'm looking for ultra wide rectangle lens that has low distortion.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. User reviews for the Pentax 12-14 are very positive. The Pentax 10-17 lens that I own, is sharp and can be fun but I don't like the distortion. I tend to buy the Sigma 10-20. It's about $429 now, almost half price comparing to Pentax.

This lens, Pentax DA 12-24mm f/4 ED AL, is almost $900. Does it worth this price? It use to be about $700. I have the Pentax DA 10-17 but I don't like the fish eye distortion, considering to buy this lens... |

The pictures were taken with my Pentax DA 17-70 f4. I see positive difference using it on the K5 iis vs K5.

Way too expensive... 17-70 f4 works very well for me.

Focus on K5 IIs is much better:
K5 top vs K5IIs below.
Both are pictures were taken using auto ISO, same exposure and AF settings, under low Tungsten light. For some reason auto ISO on K5 was set to 6400.

1.14 Placebo effect or not, My fine focus adjustment needed a change from +8 to +3 on the DA 17-70.

I'm not using a grip. The battery meter is showing one bar then I switch the camera off and on again, now battery meter shows full battery. What's going on?

I got the K5 about a month ago. I had AF issues with Tamron 17-50 so I decided to try another lens. Now with DA 17-70 the AF is spot on even in very low light. No DSLR camera has 100% AF accuracy.

I ordered a K-5 with Tamron 17-50 f2.8. It had a front focus issue (needed -5 correction) and occasionally when using f2.8 @ 17mm images were not focused. Returned and got the DA 16 - 45 that was doing well for the most part until I noticed the AF is not consistent (Also needed back focus +7 correction). Now I got the DA 17-70, ran same tests as the previous 2 and focus is spot on and no fine correction is needed.
This makes me wonder whether SDM has better focus performance than lead screw focus.

This is probably caused by shadow correction set to med or high. I saw same thing and I set shadow correction to low and issue gone.

Just got the Pentax 16-45 f4. Took more then 100 test shoots with no issue at all! Good lens. I'm going o return the Tamron 17-50. I guess Pentax is working better with Pentax...

Here are some examples.
First one is ok. But the other 2 are not clear even tough the focus indicator lit.
