Reasons to buy? Great features for using old Pentax/M42 glass and a super price, plus it's a Pentax.

Thanks Ricoh/Pentax. Great work and super price on the new FF camera. Look forward to using it with the old glass and, eventually, the new lenses being released.

If does not support legacy K-mount lenses. Big pluses if it's weatherproof, has a big viewfinder, crop mode, great dynamic range (think Sony a7s), and 16 to 24 resolution .

The 24mm f/2.8 K, and then take a walk up a hill. Look forward to using those great old wide-angle lenses.

Thanks for sharing the great pictures. I just acquired a K-01 and am very happy with the camera. It's fun to use with manual focus lens using focus peaking. I'm also impressed with the build quality and low light performance. The camera has character - perhaps knowing that it's not a perfect machine makes it more fun.

Thanks for starting this petition. Except for my Black Friday purchases of a K-01 and 40mm LTD, I haven't purchased a single Pentax lens or body since the UPP took effect. Instead, Pentax's pricing led me to start investing in a Nikon system (their lens have a 5-year warranty). I still have a huge soft spot for Pentax and will buy their equipment if their prices come down.

Nope, I said "in my mind" which should imply that this is my opinion on these two items. Not meaning to insult anybody that has purchased a K-01, but for me the K-01 doesn't have me reaching for my wallet and the pricing policy is another turn-off.

In my mind Pentax-Ricoh is now scoring 1:2. The 1 win is the lens roadmap; the 2 losses are the K-01 and the new pricing policy. I hope Pentax makes a quick turn-around with rebates and announcements of new camera bodies (like a FF), but if not there are other choices. For now, I'll suspend any investment in the Pentax brand.

I have a Pentax 12-24 that lives on one of my K200D's. It's a great combination for landscapes. But, I think any of the lens mentioned in this thread would work well for you. Good luck with your choice and future business.

Hope the news is true and that Pentax has found a good home under the Ricoh banner. The K-01 and lens roadmap make me hopeful.

I just received and installed a Katz-Eye for my K200D. No shims were needed. I believe Katz-Eye screens are made to the same thickness as the stock screen. I'm really happy with the improvement the screen makes for manual focus lenses. Good luck with yours.

I enjoyed reading Class A's analysis of Ram's design principles and tend to agree with his conclusions. Despite the concessions made to Newman's design, I hope we find that the camera has good egonomics and workmanship. I'll probably purchase the K-01 because even with its design flaws, at least to my eyes, it's a Pentax K-mount body.

I have a K5 and a K200D, but find I'm using the older camera much more often (due to it having a Katz-Eye focusing screen) with my manual focus lenses. Like them both, especially the WR specification on both models. I find that the ability to use AA batteries is a big plus in favor of the K200D when traveling. A K-r or K-x might be in my immediate future.

Relieved and glad to see the Ricoh-Pentax commitment to the K-mount - thanks. I hope some of the DA lenses are WR and that the DC motor is used instead of SDM. The focal lengths look great, especially the short and walk-around zooms.

It looks fun. But, I'm biased. Anything with a k-mount would look good to me. I hope it has a solid well-made feel to back-up its chunky appearance. WR and EVF would be big pluses.

I would also be interested in purchasing at least one of these skins. Last year purchased the K20D version with the hope of using it on my K200D - it did not fit well enough to use (no surprise), but I was impressed by the level of protection it would give to a matching camera body.

I've been lurking for awhile absorbing the information and advise available on this forum. It is a great resource and I hope to contribute. My major interest is landscape photography. My decision to invest in the Pentax system had to do with the availablity of weather-resistent camera bodies and lenses. I'm an especially big fan of the K200D because of its robust construction and ability to use AA batteries.

I would keep the K200D if at all possible. The K200D would make an excellent back-up to the K5 as both are weather-proof. The K200D also has advantages in that it seems to have a reputation as a reliable body and it is powered by AA batteries. I have a K5 and it would be a tough choice if forced to choose between it and the K200D. Good luck with your decision.
