Nice - I've always found the moon to be very tricky to catch clearly, this is great for the Sigma. I'll have to try again... my last attempt was a complete failiure!

I must say, I do quite like this - I haven't seen it on other forums before. Thanks for the tip!

Can't really help you on that... I'm in South Africa - manufacturer's customer service is generally not the greatest in this part of the world.
My suggestion would be to find a local camera shop that deals with Pentax and ask them there.

It could be that the software is corrupted. Try turning the camera on with the Menu button pressed, it should then show you the software version. If it doesn't do that, then I guess you'll have to send it in to Pentax.
I know this sounds obvious, but are the batteries in the camera correctly? It might also be that there is a bad contact between the battery/ies and the camera. Are they fully charged?
Hope you come right!

Esh, it looks to me like your sensor is giving up... I've seen this on small point-and-shoot cameras, never on a DSLR before!
One suggestion would be to try the 'dust removal' feature (does the K200D have this?) - maybe this will shake some life back into it! ;-)
I hope it holds out for your shoot.

Amazing! Were you using a polariser on the lens?

Hi c3p0,
Also a relative beginner with the DSLRs, I picked up the K-x after a lot of research (mainly being told rather to spend more money on lenses over the body if you have a tight budget) and it performs amazingly. I'd love to shoot with the K-5 as a comparison, but here are some of my findings:
> I have the standard 18-55mm lens and bought a Sigma 70-300mm. This combination is great for general shooting - the Sigma is an amazingly versatile lens.
> I am looking for a 50mm prime to add to the collection, as I have also heard that they are very good, but also that they are pretty expensive. I've played with a friends Pentax 50mm f1.4 and the clarity and sharpness of the shots is unbelievable.
> The image stabilisation works in a subtle way, almost without you noticing (when on a zoom lens, it makes a bit of noise), only when you switch it off do you notice how much it actually does!
> Due to the built-in IS, yes, whatever lens you put on (all old K mounts) will be stabilised.
While Pentax may not be 'mainstream' at the moment, I am very impressed with them so far and am set to be a loyal Pentaxian.
That's my 2c, hope it helps in your decision making.
Cheers,
Stuart

Hi All,
I'm a relative newbie to the world of photography and as of last year, bought a Pentax K-X before an expedition down the Zambezi River.
The photobug has bitten and following my return, I bought a Sigma 70-300mm lens. This, along with a small tripod is what I'm currently using as my setup - I'm looking at expanding (as money allows) to get some good prime lenses and better lighting setup.
It's great to see such activity on the forum - thanks to everyone who has shared so much!
My passion lies in the outdoors, of which we have an abundance - I enjoy exploring our continent and have travelled through every Southern African country over the past few years - this gives much for me to photograph and I hope to share some of this with those who are interested. I am also passionate about photographing people, and pretty much anthing else that catches my eye and makes for a interesting photograph.
I look forward to getting involved in the Forum!
Cheers,
Stuart
