Sold my k5 before buying gh3. Canīt compare directly but clearly better image quality in video mode. For stills, k5 is better.
I have been using Pentax SMC 55mm f1.8 m42, and so fare i'm very happy with results. guess m lenses would be also great.

got my panasonic gh3! only used my SMC 55mm f1.8 yet, but i have to say that i'm impressed! the quality that comes out of this sensor is amazing.
But... I have to say. nothing beats the ergonomics of the k5.

Hi, The k5 video mode is very simple, select your white balance, your shutter speed and let the camera do the rest. K5 videos files are huge, very image detail, so, not so good to watch on computer or iPad. also you donīt have manual control over video, you can only lock in the desired metering.
I never tried the k30 but i guess you can choose AV, TV, and M. Also the white balance as in the k5. Tha k30 videos files i think are h264. This format is more compressed than motionjpeg(k5) therefore more pc and ipad friendly, also less detail.
If you want to shoot with both cameras, you should have the same settings on both, particulary with balance, so you donīt end up with one image blue and othe orange.

I been looking for a panasonic lumix gh3 with lumix 12-35mm f2.8.
Itīs been hard to find this items used, even on ebay. And gets harder being in Europe.

Nop, the camera wont make double the framerate. The camera can even record video at 1/800 shutter, or above.
About the iso, never found it very easy to control, even setting the top iso. try a dark environment and you'll see noise coming up.

Agree with almost everything said above. Ergonomics are the best in class. You wonīt find a camera with better ergonomics.
Huge files are what they are, don't understand them by size, but by codec. Pentax k5 videos files are great, a lot of information and detail.
aperture control, or shutter control, sucks. When doing vídeo you should now exactly what your shutter is. Or may end up having unrealistic movements, like a chopter with frozen propellers. Also not knowing what iso you have is not very good, cause imagens look ok in your screen, but when you see them in your computer, the noise is there.

Also, from what i've heard, this camera has some kind of mini-fridge in the back. It helps the camera stay cool, and you can also save a beer in the special compartment.
Photography is hard work, we need a fresh beer now and then. :D
