My dog Happy needed to go out but it was raining so I put his raincoat on- just then a real down pour hit. Happy went to the window, stood up and looked out as the water pelted the window.

I was taking shots of my granddaughter in her school talent show. I was using my new K-5 with the 18-55 f 3.5 -5.6 lens. The house lights were down and only a set of extremely bright lights were shing down onto the stage area. Many of my photos looked blown out white on the lcd screen. Later when I reviewed them at home I set the info button to show all the data so I could figure out how do a better job next time under these conditions Anyway, I'm tooling through the photos when I come to a shot which shows an f stop of 7.1- 7.1? How did that happen with a 3.5 - 5.6 lens. I found several more like that even one showing an f 14. Can someone tell me what's going on?

I traded in all my Olympus "stuff" and some extra bucks for my new K-5 with an 18-55 and a DA*60-250 F4. Just trying to navigate around and set a few options under "P" operation. My first DSLR with movie mode- can I adjust the sound volume?
Amateur enthusiest for about 20 years-3 Minoltas. 4 Olympuses and now one Pentax .
I use PS CS5 to improve my photos. Maybe this K-5 will need less PS help.
There are wonerful beautiful photos our there from all over the world- places I will probably never get to so I SHOOT WHAT I SEE. For me seeing the photo I want to take out of the larger view of everything my eyes take in is the first step my photography!
