I just picked up a k3-3 and a DA* 60-250mm felt like I got good deals on both. Lens was about half the sale price, from usedphotopro. the camera came with the grip and 2 batteries from mapcamera on eBay. I think it was the launch edition or something? Had a grand total of 349 shutter clicks. Probably saved about $700. I wanted to buy it all new but saving 40% give or take was too tempting.

Out of curiosity I tried the lens in live view mode. Even in poor light it locks in. Really scratching my head on this one.

It showed up today, looks good but unfortunately doesn’t want to focus :-( other than at 18mm it just hunts back and forth through the focus range. It never locks. Doing it both on a k3-3 and a K7. So bummed right now. Thoughts?

I have a “like” button on iOS safari mobile, no thumbs up like a couple of days ago. No ad blocker installed.

I picked this lens up, I’m going to be selling some gear and I didn’t get a kit lens with my K7, so that’s going to my daughter. I’ll for sure try it out on the k3-3 I got last week but thanks for posting! However I’ll have to block your username now so I don’t buy anything else 🤣

I think they were back in the manual focus film days. No matter what their main loyalty was, more times than not, the backup hardware was a K1000. From what I’ve heard from gray beards willing to admit it anyway ;-)
Pentax was late to the digital party, was slow on AF development, got passed around too much with mergers and acquisitions (namely the screw job Hoya pulled), smartphones, and made too good a quality product. I just finally upgraded from a K7. Still got a K200D and a K10D, both work fine. The K3-3 feels like a tank too.
I stuck with them because of the lenses I’d have to rebuy and the ones I wanted are out of reach price wise on the other platforms. I’d love to go mirrorless but from what I’ve seen with the motion sickness you can get on the viewfinder, I’m prone to that already for certain things. Pentax tried to go mirrorless and the paid off cannikon snobs doing reviews panned Pentax so bad the sales went nowhere, so discontinued the products (Q series and K-01).

I've owned the K3-3 for about two days, upgraded from a K-7. My kids are in sports / other activities and have been a Pentax user since I was in school. I didn't want to replace my lens catalog either to jump ship to another system. The AF, so far, is wonderful. I don't even know the camera that well and getting good shots. I bought it used from MapCamera on eBay, had only 345 shutter count. It shipped from Tokyo to the midwestern USA in about 3 days. With the WiFi and Bluetooth options built in, you could use your phone with the app as a 2nd screen if needed since it's missing the tilt screen. Since you are in Japan already I would check them out. I agree with the other poster thus far, I'm guessing they would have told me the same thing had I asked :)

Welcome! I have the same camera from my dad, He bought it new in 1981 or so. I used it in school and he gave it to me when he bought the K10D. The shutter and mirror are stuck open. Can’t advance it either. What was wrong with yours?

took one more look at it. put a [CR] in it to make sure it was registering the line return I checked the file info (under OS X. tried this on Win 7 too, both actually were appending the .txt on the file!!!). once I opened the Get Info pane (same as right click > Properties on Win), I deleted the .txt from the filename & the icon changed... debug popped right up! I even tried the PK Tether, it has a button that enables/disables the debug menu but it wasn't seeing my camera. used the AF adjust, needed a +70 to get it back close. I also had a problem a couple weeks ago: it froze up to the point I had to pull the batteries.
wish I'd figured this out sooner, but I really like the K7. Having a really hard time parting with it.
thanks for the help!!!!!
