The built in IR filter isn't bad, Not quite as dramatic but nice. I shoot most of my B&W with that setting.

Thanks, that worked, I knew broccoli and asparagus were good for you. I always save these, I wrapped it in half for a tight fit.

I have a K5 and a K30, I actually like the K30 better. If it was made as sturdy as a K5 it would be no contest. My Tamron 60-300 SP works better on it for sure. I have one of those KA mounts that has to be in the exact position to see the aperture # and the K30 is much more forgiving. Other manual lenses are OK just not the Tamron adaptall. The K5 is made like a tank but also lacks focus peaking for manual lenses so you have to press the info button to zoom in. The pictures on the K30 are immediately seen on the LCD after the shot, the K5 not so much.

The barrage on Ebay of so called sensor stained K-5s seems to have subsided, I got one with a "0" shutter count - new with nothing on the sensor I can find. Not bad for about $123. I don't like it as much as the K-30 in some ways, such as seeing your results after taking a picture. It is nice and sturdy though and makes a go pair with the WR lens I bought separately. My Ebay battery is alright but may try to find one that lasts a little longer. It was a great run for people that got these bargain sale cameras.

Your two sharpest lenses are your 50mm lens, The kit 18-55 shoots best at f8. The Quantaray is optimized at the short end not near the 300mm, so shots may be soft beyond 220mm or so. The 50-200 is known to be erratic so you will have to test, F8 is almost always the best. Your 28mm is OK. I have a K30 and like it a lot but I have a K5 on the way. Like other posters have said PP can do it all to make a bland shot into a stunning shot. You usually have to adjust sharpening, contrast, and saturation just a little. You have to know what makes a good shot too. Diagonals, leading lines, rules of thirds, etc.

I am not much of a video person, but what I have read here on the forum, the Q is not really good at running video for long periods of time. 60 minutes is probably subjecting it to a lot of internal heat which can't be good for the camera. Small and metal is good for portability but not good for heat dissipation.

I have had mine for a short time, I like it better than the KX I have, it seems to have improved on everything. It has been snowy and cold here and it hasn't failed yet, been through a few snow storms and weather in the teens. I dumped it in the snow purposely so I could crawl out of deep snow. I got one with about 1850 shutter clicks on Ebay for $232 with the kit lens. I have the blue one and it looks new.

I lost my 06 lens on the beach recently, small can be a bad thing sometimes. I miss it but didn't miss it until after a tide cycle would have claimed it. Never got to use it that much since acquiring it. I was using an adapted lens to shoot seals, so the 06 was long enough. ---------- Post added 01-05-15 at 02:28 PM ----------
I meant the 06 was "not" long enough

Actually the Q is so light you can use both comfortably, I like the Q with a 02 for more wide angle and a DLSR with a long zoom. The Q has good built in filters. I don't have a Q7.

The Q is nice and durable - metal not plastic and I have used mine while snowing hard, the Q7 has slightly better image quality, I like my 06 a lot and focuses quickly - you can usually pick it up a little less than 200 on Ebay most the time, using your 55-300 with any adapter will take a tripod and more effort in focusing, the fotodix adapter works fine but not as good as the expensive Pentax adapter. It is a lot easier using the 06 which will give a little longer reach on the Q than the Q7.

What is wrong with the review posted on this site recently? I t gave it a 7.3, just slightly higher than the q7.

It appears on the Ricoh site for support for the Q system that there was only firmware updates for the 01 and 02 lenses and they were out awhile ago.

Photozone tested them both and rated them about about the same. You can look at the results on their website. I have 2 of the 02s. The 02 has better range and seem to be better for closeups. The 01 is of course faster and smaller, I had one at one time.

Two lenses on the same body sounds like a body problem not lens, I have had six lenses with no problem, 2 02s, 1 01, 1 06, 2 03s. I find the original Q sturdier than most small cameras. I was using out in the snow this weekend and the only problem I had was occasional fogging and keeping snow off the lens filter.

The kenko digital 2.0, I have is not that heavy. I have to use a step up ring from about 37mm. My results are mixed so far. Wide open at 2.8 is soft, 4.5 better, you still have to hold it still as you are using a 400mm lens equivalent, even with shake reduction. I will shoot more later.
