Found this in the manual:
I'm guessing the issue is that the camera thinks there is a film holder loaded when there actually isn't. I've checked all the sensor points that I can find, and they all seem fine to me. Any ideas?

Update: I turned it on today, and the motor kept spinning like before, but this time, it's not actually turning the winding gear inside the camera. It just kind of awkwardly vibrates back and forth. I put film in it, but it didn't advance at all. The little manual winding knob is spinning away though.

Hi, everyone. I have a first generation Pentax 645, which I keep having various issues with. Currently, it's just winding through every roll of film I put in it. It gets to the end of the roll, then stops. When I remove the film insert, it starts winding again. I've been having this problem occasionally for a while, but I can usually fix it by turning the knob backwards, forcing the shutter to fire. For some reason, that isn't working today (shutter doesn't fire). Help?
