No problem.
That's exactly what I was afraid would happen. I agree It would have been nice for Pentax to use some real shooters discussing why/how they use the cameras in the real world not just their marketing guy reciting specs. From my experience with these events, I also think that would have appealed more to the average CreativeLive viewer.

Hadn't seen this anywhere on the forums, but apparently Adorama has a sponsored a Pentax KS-1 and K-3 segment this afternoon on CreativeLive as part of their Photo Week. I don't know what exactly John Carlson plans to cover, but hopefully it will be a nice bit of promotion for the brand.

I sold my K100D and I bought a K20D. While I love the K20D, sometimes I do really miss my K100D. I say if you're happy with your *ist and you've got the budget, definitely pick up a spare body.

I can only come up with one reason for this--because they can...:)
I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to buy the TC just to use for the 31mm or 43mm.

Awesome article.
That was totally me. After spending some time looking through that part of the forums, I'd regularly find myself with a cart load on B&H or prowling the Marketplace. Luckily, I've gained some semblance of control in the last couple of years and my LBA isn't so bad.

I definitely wouldn't brute force it. Is there anything it could be hanging up on?

I've felt like this on occasion, but I always manage to reign in my covetousness. What usually does it for me is to actually lay my hands on the gear I'm considering, talk to people who use that gear and visit their forums. Almost always I find that I'm happier sticking with the devil I know.

Now that you mention it, I'd actually like to know how the Samsung Galaxy NX is doing sales wise. Not that I think it's the way forward for Ricoh/Pentax.

Since anything 2048X2048 or smaller doesn't count against my Google Drive space, I've started doing this, too. I was completely lost the last time I actually logged into Flickr...

Yeah, all 400 of them. They don't matter nearly as much as the 1,600 people that bought a Corvette Stingray instead or the people that spent their $100,000 on a Jag or new BMW, etc.
If branding really doesn't matter, why are we all sitting here discussing this particular announcement and why are there so many worked up about Ricoh being written on the back of the K3?

I imagine it would most likely come bundled with software. Probably something similar to the iPhone app for that little iPhone-based 35mm film scanner. It seems like you'd get a better result from software vs a picture style in camera.

I believe there's actually a real reason behind this one. I read recently about a study Ford conducted. Apparently people liked their vehicles right up to the point they found out they were Fords. I imagine Dodge came to a similar conclusion, thus give them the vehicles they like (the Ram and the Viper) and ditch what they don't like (Dodge).

I'm glad that's all cleared up. Regarding Ricoh on the K3, I think Ricoh could do worse. They could start branding things like clothing lines (e.g., Marc by Marc Jacobs for Marc Jacobs). Just imagine trying to buy the new Pentax by Ricoh for Ricoh Imaging Company K3 DSLR...

It takes all kinds and honestly, I understand their position, it's just all those years I spent in garages coming out of me...
That reminds me of one of my brother's friends. My brother and he decided they were going to start racing. After investing quite a bit of time, money, and effort into the car by himself, my brother got really frustrated and asked the guy whether he planned to help at all. He replied, "I bought a helmet and borrowed a suit; I thought I was the driver." It didn't take very long before my brother was a team of one.
Sometimes it's me more than the car. Some days I thoroughly enjoy working on my Integra and others I'm convinced it was designed by Satan, built by children and I hate every minute I'm under the hood. That said, I can say I pretty much dislike working on newer vehicles like my wife's car; you know the ones that require you to spend 35 minutes taking plastic covers off of things just to be able to start the job.

I was thinking the same thing about the P&S my mom replaced with a KX. Seeing this sale and reading about the MX-1 in the forums is really not doing my GAS any favors.
Nice!

I've heard tale of an image circulating that shows it being used with a K3 . ---------- Post added 02-07-14 at 12:55 AM ----------
I think time and money are the two venues where this beats dedicated scanners. You get 80% of the quality and save lots of time and money. I guess we'll have to wait and see price wise.

My wife does "cyanoacrylate fuming" every year in her forensics class. It's much easier than they make it out on TV.
My thoughts exactly. It's a pity the K1000 doesn't have interchangeable screens or it would me much easier to diagnose/fix.

That's what I'm hoping for as well. Although, I don't really have a need for the TC it would be nice to have the option.
