We do not need manual focus Zeiss lenses as we have several manual ones in the Pentax legacy.
Also Zeiss does not need Pentax if they consider the possible business on it.

I know that test but luckily I have no issue with CA.
I agree better with the CA test of ephotozine. This is opposite result comparing to photozone. Maybe are the lenses not the same? I do not think although the ephotozine test is newer than the photozone one. !!!??? http://www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-16-45mm-f-4-smc-da-ed-al-interchang...s-review-14950
However I have extremely soft bottom left corner with some ghost and very good bottom right corner (I can say too good). Meantime I got an offer from Germany so I will send my 16-45 there tomorrow.
Thanks for your advice.

Definitely but it depends on if I can find somebody to adjust my decentered 16-45 or not. Our local Pentax workshop refused the adjustment ("it is within the tolerance") and for the time being I did not find workshop abroad could do that job, any suggestion in Europe?
Besides my 10-20 and 50-200 I would have 65-85 on my K-5 in 90% of the time.

DA 15 sounds great especially I like the low distortion of that lens. But...
DA 15 (I do not have) is not a substitution of zoom lens having 16 mm. My 16-45 is a nice "walkaround" zoom without changing lens all the time if I need wide angle (and I need very frequently).
Even my Sigma 10-20 does not substitute 16 mm on my standard zoom for the same above reason. ((Additionally Sigma 10-20 has a unique characteristic I love for city building photos but I do not like it if there are people on the picture borders.))
I am too convenient using fix lenses (in spite of I have some 35, 50, 58,135).
For me on the standard zoom 18 mm is simple not sufficient but 16 mm is enough. So sufficient (16mm) or not (18mm) is the huge difference (for me :) ).

5 elements in 4 groups for both looks to be no major difference optically. We'll see.

Anvh!
Pentax said: "We expect a larger series of XS lenses to become available in the near future; these lenses will be extra-compact and are said to only function with the K-01."
So?

XS is only for K-01. I guess that XS lens will perform well only with using the opcodes (software correction) not available backwards. This would explain also the very thin design as well. Instead of additional glass to correct distortion software will do this job. I just guess it but maybe I am wrong.
