Film shops around the world

Hi!

I had the idea of collect on a single Map all the Film shops around the world. This, after finishing my rolls a bit too early this summer...

I realized that a simple Google search can not provide always good result and above all, the advice of a local person could be really precious about quality, speed of developing, or if the shop is no more there (what happened to me).

I made this Google Module where you can fill the infos about your favourite shop, the one near you, or just the one you found for the first time this year.

(if you prefer, you can send me a private message, or even post the infos here. Module was made for people I can't reach from the forum. These the infos I need: name of the shop, website, phone number, if it's a shop, a darkroom or a person, price of a roll of portra400 or Colorplus200 36exp and, if it's a shop, if it sell cameras, do prints/scans)

Once I receive it, I add on this Google Map page so that everyone can see it (you can find the link also at the end on the Google Module).
So far, I've added only the ones I know from my area (Italy).

I don't know if this can be useful or helpful. But if it is, please consider to share your place!

Hey guys!

I've just read this news and want to share with you!
Apparently the company is giving his product for free today.

Here what they wrote on their Facebook profile:
"Today we’re making the Nik Collection available to everyone, for free. Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.
The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities -- from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.
Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.
We’re excited to bring the powerful photo editing tools once only used by professionals to even more people now.".

Here you can find the link to the FB post (It's the text above): https://www.facebook.com/niksoftwareinc/posts/10154098212694301?fref=nf

And here the link to download the Software!: https://www.google.com/nikcollection

Hi!
I think your lenses cover a good range and there are no great upgrades.
You can think about the DA55 (maybe still slow for you), but my suggestion would be upon the FA31 and 77.

My first photography job - help!

Hi Neville!
In my opinion, you don't need anything else in your kit (except a flash, very important).

About the wedding:
-try to think about what will be and what kind of pictures you want to do. Don't make the error to go there without examples in your mind.
-if you have to photograph the cerimony, try to go there a day before, so that you can see everything and think to where put lights, couples, firends and so om. this is very important if you have to shoot in a church for example.
-have multiple SD cards free
-have multiple battery charged
-TRY your kit the day before the wedding.

The day of the cerimony:
-don't be terrified and shot "random": take the shots you have in mind and if there is something particular, concentrate on that. Never do 2 things together.
-try not to be "in the middle of the action". Sometimes is better to have a tele and catch particular standing far away (face of the mothers, rings, some smiles...)
-if you are instead in the middle of the action, don't feel like an intruder: is your work and you will be respected.
-be (or show to be) relaxed and with everything under control, even if it's not.

For the quote:
I really don't know how to suggest about this point. Try to look on the web if you find a wedding site, search for the wedding photographer of your city and make a good price based on that.
In my experience, you have to consider different choices: pics only, how many pics you will retouch, if you print them, if only a CD, if you want to give them also the raw file or not.
My personal advice is: make your price and then try to talk to them and ask their wishes and requests and if you think it's the need, try to modify the price.
But remember: it's jour job, don't undersell yourself.

Hope this could help you (maybe not my english :D )
Regards
Gabriele

Post-Processing PP Challenge #84

Thank you very much Joe for the beautiful image!
I'm not very keen on PP landscapes, but this is my try!

I've tried to enhance the river and the left wood. The problem I've found is that, as the author said, the presence of a GND filter would have helped a lot in post production.
What I've done here?! So, I started by developing the RAW file in ACR and then a general adjustment in viveza.
Then, in Photoshop, I selected clouds and worked on curves just there.
With the "burn" tool, I've darken the edges of the white clouds (not the greys, because it would become like the doomsday :D ).
I've also use the "clarify" tool on the river and on the mountain.
Finally, I've applied an high pass filter with intense light blend mode.

I hope you like my version of this beautiful place!
...and I would be happy if you have some tips or critiques on my landscape develop!

Happy holidays mates!
Gabriele
