Use this video as a reference. In this video he tightens 3 screws. those you just have to unscrew and lift the front element, and put on on back later :).
be sure to use a dust free place and a bright light source.

This is a test between the Pentax 18-55 3.5/5.6 WR kit lens and the Tamron 17-50 2.8 on the Pentax K-5
This video clearly showing that both lenses are almost as rapidly rotating, so likely also have the same speed autofocus.
Both of the lenses use the inbody screw servo so it is basically quite explicable why the same speed is achieved.
Since the Tamron glass to move more than the kit lens, the Tamron is good compared to the kit lens from Pentax
