Thanks Billk
I useally focus and keep shutter buttom half pressed and then recompose. It's easies way with K-x which hasn't visible focuspoints in viewfinder.

Thanks to all of you.
I have focused on the eyes or on the face and locked the focus and after that recompose, but I have never really learned how to take portraits.
Yes, I use center focus (Pentax K-x).

I'm not very familiar with portrait photography and I have read now quite many web instructions. Still I'm a little bit confused how to compost the subject. All instructions advise to focus to the eye (head and sholder portrais) and the height of the camera should also basically at the same level, and use Golden rule. Thats quite clear for me.
But after that if I take the photo then there is too much free space above the head. Do I tilt the camera a little bit (not good idea?) or do I lower the camera (maybe not) or do I edit the photo with photo editor afterward.
Which one is commonly use practise?

When using a remote controller or a timed launch, cover the viewfinder then the picture is exposed correctly, otherwise light coming through the viewfinder may cause underexposure.

I'm not sure, but native (or base) ISO speed is usually is the sensitivity where the sensor gives its best performance, as determined by dynamic range (large) and noise (minimal). All depend on image sensor and also on image prosessor. Native ISO can be then e.g. ISO 100 or ISO 200.

Hi
I have one very technical question on image sensors. If I know image sensor's sensitivity in mV/Lux-sec e.g. 900 mV/Lux-sec, is it possible to convert it to ISO speed or estimate the ISO speed?

I have old Pentax-A 50mm/1.7 and it's great lens, but a little bit too long with DSLR. 31mm would be much better.

I made new tests with same results, old Braun dosen't fire Metz. I also made new test where I used Braun and old manual Vivitar flash. I fired them both at the same time (as close each other as possible by hand) and then they triggered Metz. So on my understandig Metz needs pre flash and the second one also on servo mode.

I have old manual Braun flash which works ok with K-x. I have tried such setup where Mezt 50 is a slave and old Bruan as master (attached to K-x hot shoe). But as you can quess Mezt dosen't fire. I have tried servo mode and slave mode (firmware 4.0). Metz works fine with K-x's build-in flash on both modes and also with Olympus compact camera on servo mode. Braun has not pre-flash at all and no P-TTL meterinapability.
Does Mezt need pre-flash (short flash before main flash),my quess, yes?

Is it allowed to use in Monthly Photo Contests photos which were already been published in the last Pentax Day event?

Hi all
I'm from Finland and I'm a new member in here. I'm also member of the Pentax User.
I have photographed more and less actively in the mid-70s and my first 35 mm camera was Konica TC which I bought with my brother. Next 35 mm film camera was Pentax ME Super and after that (and I still have that) Pentax MZ-50 35mm film camera. Now I have Pentax K-x and I love it. It's not perfect, but which is.
My family have also some digital compact cameras, Canon A75 and Olympus µ-7040, both still in use.
My equipment:
Pentax K-x
Pentax DAL 18-55 (K-x kit objective)
Pentax F 35-80mm (came with Pentax MZ-50)
Takumar-A 28-80 macro (came with Pentax ME Super)
Pentax-FAJ 74-300mm
Metz 50 AF-1 Digital -flash with Pentax adapter
Braun Variozoom 340 manual flash.
