would the k20d be better in autofocus speed? and high iso quality? i see now it's very low price, and selling the k10d it would be not a big sacrifice.

Hi,
i'm a happy owner of a k10d, which gives great pictures all my lenses ( 18-55, 50-200, fa 50 1.5 and pentacon 135mm ).
I also have a flash metz 48.
My only problem is in the autofocus speed, expecially with the kit lens. Since i'm presently in New York for the holidays, I'm planning to upgrade to a faster lens, hoping to solve the problem.
So, just from an autofocus point of view, expecially in low light, which would be the better lens: pentax 16-50 2.8, 17-70 4, tamron 17-50 or sigma 17-70?
Does the sdm helps with low light autofocus? or it's just for the reduced noise?
Thanks
Giovanni

Hi,
are you living in Trump Village in Brighton Beach?
the view and some details of the window really look like my inlaws place.
Just a curiosity.

On an Italian forum a guy said that the Samsung GX-20 seems to expose much better than the k20D, anyone can confirm?
So far I'm happy with k10D and Metz 48, but I have to admit my old Canon 30D with 430EX was more accurate in this respect. AF, on the contrary, is much more accurate on the K10D.

Thanks guys, after a lot of experiments I sent it back to B&H, because the underexposure was not even following a precise pattern, it was quite random.
So now I have a store credit to spend on another flash, between another Metz 48, a Sigma 530 Super or a Pentax 360. Any advice?

Hi, I received a couple of weeks ago my k10d, 18-55, 50-200, fa 50mm 1.4 and the flash Metz 48 AF1.
I'm super happy with everything, apart for the flash. I don't have a diffuser, so I usually bounce on the ceiling, but it NEVER get the right exposure. Bounced it's usually very underxposed. I know I can compensate, but what's the purpose of p-ttl ? e-ttl on Canon ( I come from a 30d ) was flawless, with the 430ex, bounced or whatever.
Is my flash a bad one, or is it this way with pentax in general?

hearing the usual complaints about the pentax flashes ( btw why the 360 doesn't swivel? all the cheap flashes from competitin - sb600, 430ex, FL36 - do it ), i Just got the metz 48AF, I'll let you know how it goes when it arrives...

that shot with the raynox shows that a similar combination is more than enough for me.
I just wonder, since the raynox is 49mm, with the adapter probably i would have vignetting, sinche the 18-250 is 62mm.
So probably is better to take the correspondant nikon or canon close up, of the right diameter.

I have decided that with my approaching k10d my first lens will be the 18-250 ( tamron or pentax, whichever will be cheaper ).
I was reading it has 1:3 ( more or less ) magnification at 250mm, so I'm thinking of adding a good close up lens ( like canon 500d or the nikon equivalent ).
Anyone knows which kind of magnification I can achieve with such a combination? Macro for me is a very rare thing, but I would not mind to be prepared for that flower or insect met on a trip.
Thanks,
Giovanni

I can only say:
I passed from k100d to 30d, and now i'm trying to sell the canon to get a k10d.
I don't like the 30d ergonomically, and I hate not having IS. I realized it only not having it anymore.
The only great thing of the 30d is low noise, and maybe the 5 fps ( never used ). For the rest, accessing functions is quite unfriendly on the 30d. But then a lot of people love it.
My only doubt, I hope P-TTL works as fine as E-TTL on Canon.

I'm ready to buy the k10d and some pentax equipment, having almost sold my Canon stuff.
Due to budget restrictions, I was thinking one of the following combinations:
K10D + 50-135DA* + 18-55 kit + Flash Metz 48AF
or
K10D + 16-50DA* + 50-200 + Flash Metz 48AF
or
K10d + 16-45 + 50mm 1.4 + 50-200 + Flash Metz 48AF.
Main question, do I lose more with the 18-55 ( that on the k100d i had before was great ) compared to the 16-50, or with the 50-200 compared to 50-135?
I know they are different focal lenghts, but I think 135 would be enough for me. I'm more concerned of image quality. The 50-135 has very good reviews, the 16-50 I can't find any....
Thanks,
Giovanni

Hi guys,
I'm an ex repentant pentaxian, having sold my k100d for Canon.
I'm not happy with my 30d, for the ergonomy and the lack of SR ( for me it's needed ).
So I'm trying to sell my Canon stuff to get a K10D.
My question is, is it worth to get it now ( with the rebate I can get for 520$ ), or is it worth to wait for new models to come out? I would still take the k10d, since it's the right price for me, but do you think it will keep going down in price, or this would be anyway the minimum?
Thanks
Giovanni
