That is a big stretch. They could just as easily be referring to the 'unique' design.
In fact, every new camera model is 'unique'. The rep statement is meaningless.

Hi
You could check, the Whirlpool Australia forums for more opinions. They have big threads going about heaps of online sellers including DWI.

Those TAXIS always ruin my Melbourne shots! I hate how they loiter in front of the picturesque buildings.

I'm reading the dpreview thread. There are a few negative posts, but most posters seem excited about the change and are defending Pentax.

Yea, but who is gonna see it!? I feel that the boxy K-01 design is good if it allows them to use that 'mirror box' space for flat XS pancakes with longer focal lengths. It really is a new lens mount.

I still think this is a good indication that Pentax is moving forward!

Yea, this is what has me excited! Someday they will make my perfect travel camera.
With XS lenses and a new K camera with a viewfinder, Pentax could really make a massive dent in the market!
edit: on second thought, they could totally smash the market! you would have Sony mirrorless cameras, small body and massive lenses, then Pentax, larger body with sweet pancakes. I guess Fuji would fall somewhere in the middle..
Go Pentax go!

I don't know, the 'new processing engine' sounds good but could only apply to JEPGs. For RAW, it would still be identical to the K-5 with a newer sensor.
Your strategy sounds suspiciously like the canikon route of dubious upgrades and missing features that don't always justify the price differences.
Maybe that is the only way to go from a business point of view.

Yea this makes a lot of sense. I doubt they would develop the 'Prime M' processing engine unless they expect to use it for future aps-c cameras after the K-01.
This camera would be cheap, and the K-5 would still have weather sealing as its big feature.

Sure hope so, I still have faith that Pentax will make my dream camera someday. The K-01 is so close yet so far.

Do you really not understand? My troll radar is pinging here.
1. You can put the camera against your FACE not a yard away
2. An evf gives you information and auto-focus confirm in the viewfinder. This isn't possible with an ovf unless a mirror is involved.
Its not difficult to fathom.

Yea, focus peaking would be a great feature for the Fuji cameras. Really disappointed that the X-Pro 1 doesn't seem to have it.
I assume the K-01 will have great manual lens support, K mount wouldn't make sense without that.

$750 body only with no viewfinder? I was expecting more like $599. Oh well.

I'm an X100 user but can't really comment on the NEX cameras. The EVF on the X100 is really nice to use in my opinion.
I would be perfectly happy without the OVF, but a viewfinder is essential for a mirrorless camera to succeed with enthusiasts. I think Fuji has proved that.
I'm sad about the K-01 lacking a viewfinder but I'm still hopeful that something special may yet be revealed.

That's fine, and maybe Pentax will sell a lot of these cameras to such users but I am highly skeptical.
The K-01 seems to be aimed more at DSLR users and enthusiasts who want a more compact camera. I don't think they will sell beans to such a crowd, which is sad as it would be nice for this camera to succeed.
As I noted in another thread the fuji x100 is a runaway hit due larger to the hybrid viewfinder. Other aspects of the camera probably help it sell, but the viewfinder is tops.

It looks great, but I'm not going to buy it. No viewfinder is a deal breaker, how do you even use the thing?
