Mountain bike racing ---------- Post added 08-30-23 at 11:51 AM ----------
I think the 2 shots in sequence is interesting because the subject changes from the shooter to the girl who missed the dig. When I looked at the second photo my eyes went to the girl on the ground then the reaction of her teammates and then to the original subject from the first photo

Let someone else confirm. I think the k100d uses the good solenoid. If you like the k50 the k100d can be donor. You would be down to one camera but it would be the better of the 2

Typically i carry 2 bodies when I shoot games (K3 and KP with a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and the FA*300 f4.5). When it rains I reduced to one body with a rain cover. I have always used the 70-200 in the rain. I decided to switch it up this past weekend and only use the 300 with the kp. It worked great. |

I have the k3 and KP. I would go with the KP over the k3. The IQ, auto focus and low light is superior on the KP.
The only thing I miss is the top lcd and IR remote.
I shot a lot of sports so fps is important. This is where the K3 wins except the auto focus is substantially better on the KP so the KP has more keepers
The k3ii has the built in GPS if you have an interest in astro

I have shot 5 games this season 3 of them in the rain. Normally I use a rain sleeve since my primary lenses (Tamron 70-200 f2.8 & FA*300) are not weather sealed. Yesterday I could not find the sleeve so I had to break out my only WR lens the da 50-200. All things considering it held up well. Shooting at 5.6, in the rain under high school lights is not the best scenario.

my understanding is that Pentax limits who they will spare parts to. So even if the OP could fix it he would be unlikely to have the parts

With cell phones coming out with multiple focal length lenses o think the p&s and bridge market will be even smaller.
I think the market for super zooms will be some birders/wildlife.
I am still not convinced that 4k is must have. Most content is consumed on small screens. 4k is beneficial for zooming but I question how much video editing is being done my someone using a bridge camera. Now it might be a perceived need

I really only use flikr to share photos for forum posts. So this doesn't really impact me.
For sharing albums I usually use Google photos.

The 20000 was on the KP. My second body is the original k3. I think I will get the k3iii the end of the year / next year.

Last night's scrimmage. Going forward the games count,
This kid is really quick with the clamp. He will end up as a d1 fogo
I had switched the lens on the KP from the FA*300 to the Tamron 70-200. My aperture was at 4.5 rather than 2.8 kicked the ISO up to 20,000. It's really not too bad at that iso? |

My point was that they will be backward compatible rather than implying that it would only be to the k3. I stopped at the k3 because that was the camera the OP was asking about

If you think about it the k3 is only 3 models back that really need it for Astro. I have to think Astro is the intended target
-K3iii can use astrotracer3 via firmware
-K1, k1ii and k3ii built in GPS
That leaves the KP, k70 and k3 as the most recent potential buyers
I assume the gps2 will be smaller, do away with the blue light and make it red. Maybe rechargeable. Could it be powered by the hotshoe? I don't know how much tech has advanced for the actual receiver I assume some of it is software

As far as entry level. Pentax cannot compete on price. You can get a canon t7 with the 18-55 and 50-300 for $600.
The k70 seems to have more features (weather sealing being the most obvious). It is also at a higher price point. The challenges is getting the message to the consumer that there is value.

My understanding is that there was a change to how the ibis / sensor mount that makes this possible in the k3iii but not in the previous models. As well as what uncle vany wrote
So it is hardware and software
From a business stand point I could also see them holding this back even if it was possible. By not adding this to old models they can get sales to either the k3iii and the new GPS which is coming out this year

to the OP, if you click on your name you can look at your post in most recent order. Are you part of this perceived problem or are you posting pictures?
Equipment threads are also an opportunity to post appropriate photos. There was a thread in the last few weeks where a member was asking about high ISO for night soccer games. I was able to post examples at 12800. I believe this helped him make a decision.... Which I think was a free nikon

I think it is how the website filters recent threads. I am typically on mobile so that is what I am most familiar with.
It seems that the home page priorities new threads. But if you look at a lot of the picture threads they are in ongoing threads. Look at the lens club, challenges, techniques, groups etc.
Some of it is you need to know where to look. I post in a a sports thread that is in the technique section. It gets pretty busy in the spring/summer but it doesn't get promoted on the home page whenever someone posts.
I have been a member for a long time but only recently discovered that there are groups that you can join. I was specifically looking for astrophotography and found that most of those photos are in that group
Tldr...I think it is more how the forum is organized and what threads are promoted rather than a lack of photos

First scrimmage of the season. I need to get back into shooting shape. I am going with a 2 body setup this year a k3 and kp with the tamron 70-200 f2.8 and FA*300 f4.5. I ended up in the press box for part of the 2nd 1/2 and was using the 300 with a 2x teleconverter. But the teleconverter was too much at field level. We tied 8-8 with no OT in a scrimmage. My son had 1 goal. Not a bad day.
This sequence would have been from the press box. The short stick swing and a miss on the check |
