I use a hand held meter and color checker passport for just about every set of photos I take. My exposures and colors are more on point than if I didn't.
Such is the nature of those tools. But unless you are shooting for Coca Cola and that red can needs to be the exact color of red... I'm sure you can probably get away with skipping that step. It's a normal part of my workflow and I do it even when I don't need it. Workflow is important to me.

Did it occur to anybody that, regardless of their native camera brand (or any inherent agenda that might entail), the voters actually thought the K-3 was the best DSLR of 2013?
Pentaxian cynicism borders on self-loathing.

if PK tether can be updated to include the K-3 in the meantime, I'm content to wait.

It means you have a Flucard, but not a Pentax Flucard.

If Ricoh is the reason our Pentax gear keeps getting better, I have no problems seeing their logo on my gear.

I've decided to make the purchase mostly on the AF system upgrades and the increase in pixels. And because it was just about time to replace my well-used K-5 anyway.
eta: Oh also the way they are handling the AA filter. LOVE having the option.

Just pre-ordered my camera body, but I think I forgot to link there via PF first. :(
How do I make sure B&H get you credit for the sale?
Also, if my lens release button falls off the K-3, I will be downright steamed.

Tethered control of your camera only works from a smart phone/tablet, but you will be able to capture the images on a wifi enabled computer, and even have your Lightroom or CaptureOne watch the hot folder and import the images.
That's currently a feature of Flucards.

This lovely dessert was purchased at a bakery just around the corner from where I live, and didn't last very long at all after I was done shooting it.

I'm away from my manual so I can't check, but can you zoom in to the picture in live view and then manually focus a certain portion on the K-5? I know the Canikon owners can.

Forgive me if this was mentioned up-thread... but has anybody had a conversation with someone at Pentax about this?

Until they fix this, perhaps an investment in a TTL cord? Yeah, it's probably the worst possible work-around, but if you hand tilt the flash without using the tilt/swivel head, you can get proper exposure and bounce at the same time.
I died a little inside just typing that.

I've experienced this as well and I'd prefer an in-camera solution. Mostly because I'd like to know why the camera is doing this.

I use the X-rite Passport for every shoot in my workflow, creating custom profiles for any different lighting scenario. LR makes it so fast and easy.

Probably for the best. built in flashes are the worst.

My super-glue solution has failed. When I lost the button I was fortunate enough to find it. However, the "fix" lasted only a few months and now I have to send it in. I know this sounds extreme, but I'm embarrassed to own a Pentax right now. Lens release buttons are almost as old as SLRs. You'd think a company as old as Pentax would be able to get this right.

Thanks for the tip, Adam. As johnyates says, this will take some further testing.
