I've been upgrading from 2.0 and have never had this problem. I recently moved but all of the equiptment is the same.
Someone on the adobe forums mentioned my hard drive is going bad, so I'm going to retest that. Strange thing is the images that corrupt change and go back to ok.

has anyone seen this issue arise on images that were imported ok, then all of a sudden Lightroom image rendering will only do this?
The source file appears okay as this does not happen when viewed with alternative viewer programs. However, the exports usually (not always) also look like this.
What is this imaging problem called?

Yes, I propose that we test the ability of the K-5 to AF.C on bullets and the tester can stand just to the side of the bulls eye target.

I also spoke to Ned Bunnell today. There are some things that just really strike me about being a Pentax owner:
1) You can walk right up to the US President of your product company and speak to him about the new model (the K-5). While the body is almost identical to the K-7, he spoke about how they read the feedback from user forums and added little details like a slightly taller mode dial. He also spoke about the some of the technical changes beyond the sensor.
2) Their product managers are right there as well. I tried a couple of limited lenses on my own K-5 (the DA Limited 15mm and the new DA 35mm, both of which I decided to buy). The new DA 18-135mm is very compelling as a travel lens as well. Very light and compact.
3) I tried to test the indoor focus capabilities and note any differences between the K-5 and K-7 but I could not since both were focusing very fast at whatever I pointed at.
4) The booth was small and boutique-y but well attended during the time I was there.
5) Consider that other manufacturers staff their booths with temp workers, x-sports types, models (including nude), and sales people...
6) My only complaint. Pentax should strongly consider replacing the sign with non-reflective material. It's up high and is very prominent but as you can see from the picture below, it washes out in pictures (not caused by flash)!!!
If you live in the NYC area, I recommend that you go! (I got a free expo pass courtesy of Unique Photo. Below is the link.) https://www.xpressreg.net/register/PHOT100/landing.asp?h=&sc=UNIQUEP&co= |

Frank, thanks for this, but why does black appear to be purpleish... also is there any purple fringing (a problem I have with my FA 50 1.4 outdoors).

I was told by a professional sports shooter (using Canon) that they always shoot JPEG, not RAW.

Same here except my K100D was a Super. I am absolutely thrilled with my K7 and intend to keep it until it dies. It's just a great instrument, not a plastic toy like any other DSLR under $1000.

I sold mine with 2x actuations for $500 plus shipping. I think I priced it too low as I had 3 bids at asking price, but it went to a very nice forum member so I have no complaints. It went fast.

they all look good - would like to hear some opinions. I think going a bit wider than 50 make sense... sometimes I feel it's too "in between".

My DA*'s are wonderful, but my $200 FA50 is stunning. I guess my next lens has to be a prime / limited. Please help me decide!

I did some testing of *, ** and *** quality video and I'm convinced that "*" is fine for me. On my 20" LCD screen, I cannot see any difference between * and *** shot under the same conditions. What is clearly different is the file size.
I suspect that the difference is similar to the quality levels of JPEG still shots. So while you wouldn't want to be using one star for JPEGs still images that you intend to modify and crop (I shoot RAW only anyway), video appears fine to me at the lowest quality.
Comments and dissenting points of view appreciated.

Hate to tell you this....I had a 16GB Transcend Class 6 SDHC card in the packaging with a return authorization number ready to go back to Beach Camera... well after the upgrade, I opened the package, tried the video and viola! It fixed the video cut off problem.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
K20D Body (excellent condition). Asking Price
$500 USD Item Location
NJ, USA Item Description
This is a very carefully used K20D. I cannot see any scratches or wear and tear on it. Approx actuations = 6600. I purchased it in Oct. 2008 and it still has the Pentax warranty until Oct. 2011 (which includes the one time diagnostic / calibration offer from Pentax which I never had to use).
I am selling it because I have a K-7 on order - yes, it was a very hard decision to switch. High ISO low light photography is excellent. See picture below - ISO 1600 handheld and untouched (20% quality JPEG to fit).
I will provide a full set of pictures of the actual camera for the buyer via email.
All original parts included. Box is in perfect condition. Included neck strap has never been used (I have an aftermarket one that I've used from day one). Are you the original owner of the item being sold?
Yes Are you selling or trading this item?

I just bought this DVD-Rom collection from Costco - quite a bargain at $40. It has every issue from 1888-2008. Amazing photos and journalism.
Highly recommended as a gift (for yourself).
