Tamron 17-50 Focus

Please help! I'm in a panic...

I am a new K-5 user and have been using my DA 35mm lens only until today, when I decided to mount my new Tamron SP AF 17-50 and it appears something is wrong. The camera is set to auto focus, but it appears to not be focusing as everything appears blurry through the viewfinder. Is there a setting somewhere I needed to change for this non-Pentax lens? I really apologize for asking what is such a simple question for the majority of readers, but I do need help. Thanks. Cathy

Lens Choice for New K-5

I am finally going to order my new K-5 in the morning. This will be my first DSLR and I am excited, but there is so much to learn. The information on this site has been very helpful already!

I have decided to pass on the kit lens and purchase the Tamron 17-50mm f 2.8 lens as my first lens, but have a question before I place my order. The reference to this lens on this site refers to this lens as: Tamron AF 17-50mm F2.8 XR LD Aspherical IF SP

BHPhoto links to this lens: Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD Aspherical [IF] Autofocus Lens for Pentax, and my question is regarding the DI-II designation in the latter. Are these the same lens?

I see the notation that says: Di-II lenses cannot be used with digital SLR cameras using image sensors that are larger than that of an APS-C size imager (e.g. 1D series) and just want to verify that this does NOT apply to the K-5. I have read the sensor description but I guess I am not understanding it.

Thank you in advance for your help!
