I have seen some reviewers that had slow autofocus complaints and was wondering if it was due to the K100 body.

TAMRON 70-200mm f/2.8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have the K100D and have been anticipating this lens. Today I saw a review that mentioned problems w/ autofocus using the K100D and the Tamron together. Is this a common problem or a single case?

Thanks.

OK, why doesn't the pic work? Anyone have any pointers? Here's the code I used:

" IMG]http://sdonaldson.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album01&id=IMGP0435[/IMG "

(started and finished w/ brackets, of course)

Sorry it took so long, but I had to find a way to post. From other remarks, looks like my first guess was on the mark, but I'm going to post the pic for other's reference (and the fact that it took so much legwork to get'er done).

I'm getting a dark spot on the bottom center of some of my shots. First guess is that its seeing the bottom projection tip of the "lens blinder thingy" with the lens open to full wide. Anyone else experience that? Any other ideas? Is the blinder (correct term?) that important? Thanks.

Great job with the tutorial Unknown. How do you post pics? Do you have to have them located online, or can you upload?

OK, I found what I need to adjust a JPG in PSP (V.6), but you have me wondering about raw. I have only had the camera for a month and haven't shot in raw. How is it more adjustable and what other benefits do you get out of it?

Shot w/ k100d in JPG. Using Paint Shop Pro, but have never manipulated color after the fact to correct for imperfect shooting conditions.

Shot some gymnastics pics this weekend (no flash) for the first time. While the pics came out good, they are yellowish-brownish. What do I need to do to correctly modify the color in a photo manipulation program to compensate? Thanks.

I speak from inexperience, but wouldn't multiframe shooting catch a few "accidental" great shots you wouldn't ordinarily get? And why is the multiframe under the Fn key useless?

Chip - Thanks for the lens length comparison - I'm still trying to get my brain wrapped around the p&s ratio thing. I'm trying to get an idea of how much zoom I'll get out of a certain rating of dslr lens by comparison.

Tom - Thanks. You just helped me justify my purchase.

Sluggo - That helps more than you know. Seeing what works for others helps to get settings that are in the ballpark, then I can adjust to my preferences. Do you have any sample shots?

I would have liked the K10, but budget limitations and the fact that the kit lens wasn't going to do the trick for indoor made the k100 the obvious choice for a beginner.

I really would like someone to comment on this, and maybe I didn't state it so well, so I'll try again: What is the "rule of thumb" when correlating SLR zoom to DSLR zoom?

Along those same lines, I've been used to a point and shoot with 3X optical zoom. What is comparable (how many millimeters) to that in DSLR?

The biggest problem with gymnastics is that you can't move around much, but each event is in a different spot in the gym. For instance, you might set up shop around the beam, but when its time for floor or bars, you have to shoot across the gym.

I think I also see a problem with a correlation between zoom measurement, ie film zoom doesn't equal digital zoom, and what's the correlation between these two and the "X" designation of point and shoots (such as 3x or 5x optical zoom)?

Well, actually, the original described conditions were only test conditions. As you described, flash is forbidden in competition, where we will be taking the majority of our pictures, along with her brother's basketball shots. I picked up a couple of notes from this thread, but if you could, please address the "non flash indoor action shots" more specifically, including lens tips such as the afore mentioned Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8.

Thanks again.

DSLR Rookie - K100D Action Shot Tips

I'm a new K100D owner as of yesterday, and after a short practice session last night, I've got a few questions:

1. Playing around with action shots (daughter doing gymnastics in the living room) I set the camera on continuous shooting and pulled the trigger. I got 1 shot. After multiple tries with the same result, I'm under the impression that I can't shoot multiple shots w/ the flash on.

2. Setting the camera to "no flash" allowed me to shoot multiple shots, but with a good amount of motion blur, which I'm guessing means adjust the shutter speed. So now I'm reading the manual and I get that there are 3 main values I need to understand: Shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. What settings would get me in the ballpark for stop-motion photography of a little gymnast in a living room?

3. What is EV Compensation?

Thanks in advance.
