It's a K3 body. The lens says SMC Pentax DA 1.4-5.8. It's only about 7 years old but it may have gotten banged up on a rockhounding trip last fall.
First photo is of quail 30' from my porch, taken with the 55-300. And they were sitting still. 2nd photo is a hovering hummingbird about 20' from the porch, taken with my 50-200 lens, and cropped. It's much sharper, so I'm pretty sure the lens is jacked up.

My Pentax 55-300 is not creating clear pics at max zoom. i suspect it may have been dropped or otherwise banged up. Is it worth the cost of having it repaired or do I just suck it up and replace it? I remember that sending my k3 body for repairs was going to cost almost as much as a new camera, is this the case for lenses as well?

My k3 has developed an irritating issue. Every time I turn it on, it's back in single shot mode and I have to stop what I'm doing and put it back on fast shooting mode. Since I usually grab my camera to take pics of wildlife in my yard, I miss a lot of nice shots because I can only take one pic at a time. Is this a setting I've inadvertently activated or is there a work around I'm not aware of?

So I go to that website and it tells me the repair is $206, without any discussion of what's wrong with the camera. Is that the cost of looking at it and the actual repairs will be added, or are all repairs the same price?

We remodeled our kitchen in early 2013 and put in recessed LED floodlights. 2 weeks ago I came home and one was flashing. I replaced it, but last night I came home 2 more are flashing. The first one works fine in other fixtures, and the replacement works fine in that fixture which I think is pretty strange. I thought these expensive bulbs were supposed to last many years, has anybody else run into this problem?

You'll love the Southwest. I live about 20 miles from Carlsbad Caverns and 45 minutes from Guadalupe National Park, both excellent places for photography. BTW my wife is from Chinon, I've always loved that area of France for pictures.

This is my first visit and post here. My wife and kids gave me a Kr for Christmas back in 2010 and I've really loved the results I've had with it. I use it mostly for photographing wildlife, flowers, rocks(I'm a geologist) and scenery. I recently bought a 50mm macro lens and am going to start experimenting with it soon.
We vacationed in Maine last summer and even I was impressed with the pictures I took of lighthouses, birds seals and the beautiful wildflowers.
I'm looking forward to learning from the veterans how to best use my new toys.
