For the record, my DFA*70-200/2.8 has the words "ASSEMBLED IN VIETNAM" proudly etched into the leading face of the K-mount ring.
I don't care where it was assembled though; the lens is magnificent, and the image quality is up there with my best primes.
It even works OK at infinity focus on a high pixel pitch sensor like the Q7. Not bad for a portrait lens :) |

[moderator hat on]OK folks. Let's put down the dukes before this last misunderstanding gets the thread closed.
Mind you, it doesn't have much life left in it anyway....[/moderator hat off] |

If you can find the 08 Wide Zoom anywhere, I would add that to your 01 and 06. Those three lenses make for a dream kit, which can do just about anything.
As for C mount lenses, I've had a Pentax CCTV 25/1.4 for a few years. I've never given it a proper going over....

Yeah, the Hassy looks amazing!
My 645Z goes OK though, so I'll pass.

I love my Q7, but it's not *really* pocketable.
My GR III and iPhone, however, definitely are.
But I frequently have a camera bag nearby, although the DFA 150-450 only gets packed for special occasions.
So that's five possible responses. So I didn't answer :D

It looks like you have the focus dialled in nicely now.
You don't need another lens :)

Your calculations are pretty much spot on. Within the limitations of the change in aspect ratio, the crop factor is 0.61
The 80-160 is a fine lens from the few times I have used it on my 645Z. I'm sure it will work admirably for landscapes, but it also does well wide open and up close for portraits. |

If landscapes are your primary use case, I'd go for the DFA 28-105 over your other two options, mainly for the versatility of the long zoom range and reassurance of weather sealing.
You'll probably be shooting stopped down most of the time, so the wide aperture and brighter viewfinder with the other two are somewhat moot. |

Has anyone mentioned the DA* 55/1.4 yet? The angle of view is roughly the same as an 85mm lens on a full frame camera, and the rendering is lovely. Stopped down beyond f/2.0 it is very sharp indeed, and wide open it is nicely dreamy. Weather sealing and silent focus are the cherries on the cake.
Either the DA 70/2.4 Limited or the FA 77/1.8 Limited would be next on the list.

I would say you have done very well indeed. There aren't many bad lenses in the 6x7 stable, so I'm sure you'll manage for now with what you have.
Don't be at all surprised if you end up with a 105/2.4 as some point though ;)

Wow. I must have missed that detail. I have taken my KP up Alaskan mountains, on Zodiacs in Antarctica, through the subtropical forests and spray of Iguazu Falls, and to Italy, China, Japan and France.
It's a very capable tool indeed.

This is brilliant!
I'll guess I'll be putting all my Pentax gear on the Marketplace soon, once I get up to speed with this incredible tool.

The change in field of view (and therefore in portraiture, subject distance for the same shot) is substantial between 70mm and 50mm.
What is it about the DA 70/2.4 Limited that you think needs improving? I find its rendering to be quite beautiful.
The DFA* 50/1.4 is superb, but you'll pay for a lot of glass you won't be using on a crop sensor camera. It is also *much* bigger and heavier than the (slightly inferior, but still very good) DA* 55/1.4

I have looked through that deleted thread, including the posts deleted by the OP, and can't see the link. Might it have been a different thread?
