Even Fry's is selling the K5 for $799.00 and they mostly sell Nikon/Canon ...You hardly ever see much Pentax gear there. FRYS.com |

My thoughts exactly! ...I had never heard of this before accidentally coming across it on you tube. I love going to concerts and I sometimes smuggle in my little 16MP pocket camera to try to get some shots and take some video of the shows. Now I know to turn the thing off if there are lasers around...I'd rather not fry the little thing much less my K5. ;)

Has anyone ever had a Laser damage the sensor on their DSLR.... Is the damage permanent or is it just temporary?

It looks like you may be getting some Chromatic aberration in your top photo. I can see a red strip down the edge of the buildings in the upper right hand corner.

Here is a good Purple Fringe Monster. I was experimenting with the aperture settings with my K5+DA 40 ltd. and this happened wide open at F2.8...This was just before sunset as it was setting to the left.
EDIT: I think PF knocks down the file size quite a bit. This was knocked down from 6.86MB to 322KB. On the larger file the PF is horrendous.

I just bought two B+W XS-Pro MRC Nano Circular polarizers from B+H. Both filters looked like they had a different coating on it. The coating on the 49mm was jacked up right out of the box and was sent back for replacement. The coating on the 49mm looked like it had a purple hue when it was held up to the sunlight and the coating on the 52mm looked to be grayish when held up to the sunlight. I'm not sure what the cause of the difference in colors to be. I would have thought both filters should look the same so I'm wondering if they changed something in the manufacturing process. What color is your filter when you hold it up to the sunlight, purple? ...now I'm worried about scratching the filters.
The "purple" coating on the 49mm looked rubbed off by the mounting ring and had a tiny mark/scratch on the front side that could not be cleaned off. The "grey' 52mm on the other hand could have the haze wiped off the filter with no ill effects and seems to be O.K.... I'm trying to be extra careful with it...I even take off the lens hood when I turn the filter or put the lens cap on.

Winder, jmg257, ...This is how they are doing WiFi on the Nikon D3200. They are using an optional plug in dongle that contains the WiFi electronics.
It also lets you perform some cool tricks like remote live view with your smartphone. pretty cool stuff. :) Nikon WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter 27081 B&H Photo Video |

The June 1st announcement is about the new B.S. resistant line of lenses. The new lenses will feature a small blue BSR designation on the front of the lens instead of the small blue WR marking. This will give enough time for folks attending the running of the bulls in Pamplona next month to snap them up.:lol::lol:

I agree with the smelly part. One time I was with a big group of friends camping in the Sierra's and we had several bears come into our campground.
It was our own fault though, when we were cleaning up late at night one girl thought it would be easy to get rid of the bacon grease by pouring it into
the embers of our fire. OOOOPPSS!!! ....well at least I know how to get those up close and personal BEAR photos now!!!:lol::lol:

Are those the nasty birds that like to hop up on a sheep's back and dig there beak deep into the sheep's hide and make a bloody mess. Then they sit around and watch the sheep bleed to death.:eek::eek:

Some people say they take their cameras all apart when they store them with the lens and body separated. Perhaps if you are going to store your camera with a lens on it be sure to make it one that is not WR. That may let the camera breath a little better over time with barometric pressure and humidity changes.
Also you may try getting some desiccant packs to put inside a sealed camera bag. I always save the ones that come with the stuff I buy. http://www.widgetco.com/desiccant-packs? |

From what I was reading in the K5 Manual it says that when you enable the HDMI output the 3" LCD screen is disabled and the LCD display is redirected through the HDMI cable to the monitor. I'm not totally certain if this is only for playback or if you can actually use the monitor while shooting video. If it allows you to use an external monitor while shooting video then that would work great in a studio like setting.

Look before you leap!!!. All you have to do is call up B&H on their toll free number (800.606.6969) before you order and confirm what price and what items you are getting. Very simple!!! I'm sure they will clear up all this ad confusion very quickly. No reason to lose any sleep over it.
Why troll on and on about this forever. Pentax is probably just trying to get rid of all those old DAL lenses and give a lower price point for some of their "NEW" customers that don't want to spend a fortune on a DSLR.
B&H is offering many interesting combos with this K30. pentax K30
I think the best deal is the one with the 18-135 WR combo, with the lens at a $180.00 discount. But it is $1200 so it may make it rather
expensive for the "Entry Level" beginner. Pentax K30 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens Kit (Black) 15635 |

From reading the K5 manual you have a choice of either using Composite Video out or HDMI out. If I understand this correctly composite video output is only 480i. So If your shooting HD video in 720P or 1080P you will have to use the HDMI output to get the proper display on your monitor.
There is also a USB port so you can transfer your files directly to your computer.

I would like to add #19) The K5 makes for an excellent defensive weapon. You could really knock someone out with the K5...not so sure you could put someone in the hospital with a K30. Something to keep in the back of your mind on your next ghettography journey.:lol::lol:

I recently read someplace that the D5100 line will be discontinued due to poor sales, too close in specs to the cheaper D3100.
So this new D3200 is the replacement for both the D3100 and the D5100.
