Now i can join in here :) ordered on Tues. & it arrived Sat.,very fast shipping from Holland! & a great shop Pentax HD FA 150-450mm f/4.5-5.6 DC AW - Telezoom - Objectieven Onze prijzen zijn internet-prijzen & the best prices in Europe!
since its cloudy & raining only a couple of mandatory cats pics ;) OOCJPG no PP
its a heavy one & grip is needed, makes the DA300 feel like a 50mm,but possible to handhold for me..will see when I go out birding when the sun comes again..
so far it seems as good as the DA*300 & AF is so much faster than the DA*300 (on K5II)
will try with 1.4TC & AFA1.7 TC & stacked when light permits
now to find a case that fits it & the camera...

This lens is looking fantastic... obviously a little skill from the shooters too.... You guys know? if i were to buy this lens and didn't get as good images as you, I might sue you for mis-representation.... just kidding. I'd probably just post that this lens, sucks and Pentax is doomed.

Your lens goes to 50, his goes to 300. Your camera is a '3', but his is a '70'.
You loose by a 317 point margin.

My first photos ever of a Meadowlark.
Its funny since I spent the whole day walking with the Sigmonster and the best photos of the day where from the seat of my jeep with the 300mm. |

I wasnt very happy with the results from the Sigmonster yesterday and thought it was my technique, turned out it just needed a little front-focus adjustment. . .
Hummer-300mm .
Rockstar, ruined was probably the wrong word to use.
Kingfishers are my nemesis and I only get a couple of chances a year to get somewhat close.
I was so excited till I got home and saw the photos on the computer then the disappointment set in.

K-3 DA* 60-250 +1.5 TC, 400 ISO, ƒ8, 1/500s
We went over to the Portage Store Restaurant for Lunch, and watched the prerequisite rookie dump into the cold water. On the way back we saw 4 moose, so here ya go, shooting moose, Algonquin Style.
Experienced photographer tries desperately to avoid photobombing my picture, not realizing, she was in my picture.
All in a day's work.

Impressive! Hey, you visited Canberra and didn't get in touch? ---------- Post added 24-05-15 at 10:01 PM ---------- Someone suggested Tav mode, and to be honest I'd never tried it, so I tried to take a few photos with it today. I was busily trying to photograph a Cormorant when I turned around and found this guy watching me!

I've never heard of it as a courtship display, but it's possible that one bird was a fledgeling which the parent hadn't stopped feeding. ---------- Post added 24-05-15 at 10:39 PM ----------
Wow! That's amazing! I guess you're using a tracking mount, or was it the GPS? The moon shot is beautiful too! Oh to have a 600mm lens...
And here's the Cormorant. Please note that although I used a railing to steady this shot, the one of the Platypus was hand held at 1/40s using the DA*300 and 1.4TC!

Another recent shot with the HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW and the 1.4x HD PENTAX-DA AF Rear Converter AW. Shot on a K-3. Really loving how they work together. Also, I did need to fine tune the AF ... but otherwise has been awesome right out of the box! (ISO 400, f/8, 1/1000)

Well, in German it's beef with pepper, but there is a difference between the German and Norwegian languages.Strange doesn't begin to describe it. Never in my oddest moments, have I asked where the best places to peel bark off a tree are.
