Sorry John, I bought the camera 2 days ago. Will let you know how CCD transplant goes so you can decide it you wish to try it yourself.

Thanks. I agree that I don't have much to lose by trying to repair this camera. I have my eyes on a K10D for $250 and a K-R for $480 as plan B.

Don't know if anyone can help with this request for help.
I believe my DL's CCD is broken so I am replacing it from a DL with a different fatal problem.
Has anyone replaced a Pentax CCD or made major repairs near the CCD that could advise me on best way to approach other than trial and error?
I have replaced a CCD on a Canon Powershot A75 which fits my Waterproof case (worth more than my camera) successfully but there was a youtube video available to guide me.
Grateful for any assistance.

My ist DL sensor died last week. I guess the black photo plague is spreading with these older models. Post what you decide to buy. Cheers

Henry's Clearance Outlet in Toronto had K-R bodies for $539.99 CAD and $479.99 for K-X bodies (new, open boxes). I am also shopping for a replacement camera since CCD has died in my old ist DL. Want to sell your old camera for parts if you do buy a new body? Cheers
