Yes it was a bad experience but at that time prices at B&H etc were $1200 + tax so I saved more. If I were to do it again and tried to save, I'd try to find a deal on craigslist or ebay.

I bought my k5 form ryther when it was $919 there. Took nearly a month and 5-6 phone calls to get it (they promised I'll have it in 2 weeks and they are located 10 miles from me). Camera came in a box from k5+18-55 lens kit (with lens removed) with Polish warranty...
So I assume I was waiting for it to arrive from Poland to them, and then they shipped it to me (using Fedex, when I actually ordered 'slow' USPS shipping)

Your second point is not valid as manufacturer has NO control over what original buyer/user has done to their products before they decide to ask for warranty service, either. Why would they care which lens owner is making the claim?

At first I was excited but then I realized it's by march 2013,and that's a year away... wasn't it obvious they'd have new dslrs by then?

What's the manufacture date of your camera? I just bought a k5 and hope they learned to glue it properly by now..

Yes, I found it but I couldn't find the mention of a weak playback volume... seemed strange to me, did tons of google search etc... but just did find the 390 minute max charge time :cool: 400 pages is a lot to go through..

Hello, I just received my Pentax k-5 (international version, seems to be Polish) and so far I'm loving it but I have a few concerns.
My first issue is the battery. I've been charging it for 4-5 hours and the charger still shows green light (not charged) and it got pretty warm. Is it normal? How many hours for a full charge? Maybe I didn't get a genuine battery/charger?
My second issue is the sound volume on in-camera video playback - it's very low... and yes the slider is on the max. I do get normal volume when playing the videos on my computer but not in the camera - I can barely hear anything.

never mind, had to apply lots of force to get it moving and now it's smooth. Pretty weird for a new lens...

Hello, does anyone know if the focus ring in the 21mm limited can be rotated while the lens is not attached to the camera? I don't have any pentax camera on hand (waiting for k-5 delivery) but already have 21mm limited and the 70mm limited. And while 70mm lens' focus ring rotates freely, the 21mm one wouldn't move at all. I am assuming the 21mm lens is broken?

Sony 24MP sensor from nex7 is pretty amazing from reviews I've read, I doubt they'd make a new 16mp at all... especially that is better as it wouldn't make much sense... maybe some tweaks to the existing one?

Looking to pay a bit less as they go for $800-900 on ebay but the seller there would be paying 10-15% in fees but here we'd split the savings. I am okay if the camera's condition isn't 10/10.

Moving to Pentax from Canon for some street photography. Looking for a Pentax k5 and one of the prime lenses in the 21-35mm range (21mm da limited, etc)
Right now the best deal I found was a "like new" k5 + da limited 21, 40 and 77mm for $1900. But I don't want the longer lenses and the seller didn't want to split.
I am new to this forum but I have excellent feedback on ebay under same name and can meet in person in NYC.
