I have just purchased this part for my K7.
I don't have ready access to a camera repair centre.
Does anyone have experience 'self-installing' this in a K7?

Hi,
Sorry for the lack of clarification. The photograph appears to be in focus through the viewfinder/LCD and the 'hand' indicator appears to confirm. However, no 'red light' appears and the shutter won't open/close and take the photo.

I recently purchased a Tamron 18-200mm lens for my Pentax K7 and have had it replaced once for the same problem. The lens will not consistently autofocus between 18 and approximately 35 mm. It performs slightly better in 'C' mode. The camera works perfectly with my 3 other Pentax lenses. I bought this lens for travel, however now I'm afraid to depend on it. Any suggestions???

Thank you kind people. I really didn't want to have to go to the local store and defend my choice of camera...or worse, have to part with it for any length of time to get it checked out. Sorry for the redundant 'newbie' question. I thought I was pretty familiar with my manual..pages are falling out. :o

I'm new to posting on this forum...or any forum for that matter...so hope I'm in the right spot!
I live in an area that does not have retail support for Pentax and I am the only person I know who doesn't own a 'massive' Nikon or Canon DSLR. (I have been a die hard Pentax fan since I got my first SLR camera over 30 years ago.)
Before I panic and call Pentax support, I thought someone 'out there' might be able to provide me with some reassurance, or at the very least a possible explanation.
I have a K7 DSLR. Perhaps until now, I haven't been paying attention (!), but I am hearing a noise as though something inside the camera body is 'shifting' when I rotate the camera from landscape to portrait orientation and vice versa. The camera appears to be working fine. Should I be concerned? Is it safe to keep using the camera?
