Sorry to report that my almost not used Pentax K3 is experiencing the same problem, it is stuck on the "M" position. It angers me because it is the very first time that I have had a problem with any Pentax camera that I have ever own (ist*D, K10, K20, K7, K5 and K1 Mark II) All have been used during several months until the following model came out. Again, never have had any problem or malfunction with any of them.
I don't think I will send it to repair since at this moment the repair price over pass the value price of a Pentax K3 second hand in the market.

This has been an important year for me: I finally got the K1-II in January, then the Voigtländer MACRO APO-LANTHAR 125mm , a lens I have been chasing for more than two years and the superb HD PENTAX-FA f/1.8 31mm Limited.

I just had an SSD hard drive fail in my system. Luckily, I had a back up to recover the data, so I did not lose anything irreplaceable. I simply threw away the damaged disk and replaced it for a new and better one.
I say this for you people to consider that if a failed SSD or memory whatever is installed inside the camera body, it would make the whole camera body inoperable. Yes, the concept to have a built-in memory in the camera, IDEALLY is a very nice one... buy is it 100% trustworthy? My idea goes back to that very logical statement that is attributed to Henry Ford: "If it is not broken, do not try to fix it".
The present system of removable SD cards works ideally well, why try to change it with a thing that is new and maybe not as useful?

Thanks for your comment. The reason that decided me to purchase this HD version was precisely the results I got with the 77mm Limited on my K1-II. I was impressed by the "cleanliness" of the image and the definition. One of the first surprises I got with the K1-II was using an old 300mm + the 1,4 extender: I was not prepared to see such an "improvement" in image quality with an old lens together with the extender. Until recently, I have been using a Pentax K3... but comparing the results of the K1-II the difference is from night into day!

This HD 31mm f/1,8 Limited is a lens that together with the Pentax K1-II gave me such a surprise on the very first photograph I took testing it. When I enlarged to 100% I was amazed at the detail. (I had not watched the spiders at the moment I took the picture!)
I don't consider myself a "tester", but rather just a photographer looking for sharpness and image quality. This lens, granted, is a tad expensive, but I decided to take the risk and bought it based on the great results I have been having with the other two (regular, not HD versions) Limited lenses with the Pentax K1-II.
I will be looking forward to produce more pictures once that our South Florida weather improves a little bit.

I am in the process to jump to the Pentax K1-II and getting rid of several lenses that I will not use on this FF camera (although I will be keeping the Pentax K3 and a few other lenses for a while). All the lenses have been used (not abused, mind you!) with the Pentax K-5 which is another wonderful camera that has given me many favorite pictures, but it has been replaced by the K3. I am also including for sale the 645 120mm Macro FA since I bought the fantastic SR 90mm f/2,8 for my 645Z.

For the USA and worldwide I prefer to use USPS, first class with tracking code and insurance ($25. up to the first Kg and $35. for up to 2 Kg).
Nevertheless, we can opt for other services, like UPS or FedEx, but the shipment costs will be understandably higher.
Photos:
1. The 645 Macro 120mm was my first macro lens for the 645D. Later, when I bought the DFA 90mm Macro f/2,8 this lens has no reason to remain in my possession. I am not the original owner; I bought it second hand and the glass is in excellent condition.
2. I wanted to show the whole group of the things I am selling here, with all the original boxes, etc. Several of the items which have been bought second hand are the ones lacking the original boxes.
3. The 12-24mm was purchased new by me and has not been used excessively. Glass is extremely clean.
4. The 16-45mm was purchased at the same time as the 12-24 and both have been used, but NOT "abused. The glass and the body are very clean.
5. Bothe the 21mm and the 40mm Limited were purchased at the same time I bought the K5 in Barcelona and I needed some lenses to work with during that visit and test the camera. At that time I was working with another brand and that was why I decided to purchase the two little lenses. They are "like new".
6. The 50-135mm was meant to fill the gap between the 16-50mm and the 60-250mm but it is a lens that was rarely used by me. It is in really pristine condition.
7. The Pentax K5 was my companion of several trips in Asia and Europe. It has given me wonderful images, but it was replaced by the K3 and now that I am about to get the K1-II there is no reason to keep it. In general I love to take very good care of my equipment. And the Battery Grip D-BG4that I used together with the K5.
8. The Macro 100 is essentially the same optic as the latest version, only that Pentax remodeled the body. It was purchased second hand. It is not as new looking as the others, but it works impeccably.
All lenses, as you can see, all come with their original caps and in most of the boxes are the original documents.
Hope that they will give you a satisfactory results.

My first Pentax was the model H-II (I guess it was the name), the one before the Spotmatic. It had a funny exposure meter that was attached like a "hat" on top of the prism.
