I just bought a K3 with a 18-270mm bundle and I am very happy with the lens. Is not super sharp but only if you are watching at pixel level, or you make your living as a photographer. For the rest of us, traveling light is the perfect solution. My only complaint is that is not weather resistant, but for that price we can't ask too much.
This picture it's at 270mm through a sliding door. Until I can afford a 300mm lens I will be very happy with this combo :)

I will need at least two grand to get the two lenses I want. That won't happen any time soon LOL For now I have to make the most of what I have. Like I said I am not a pro, I don't make a living out of photography. I am sure I will love this setup for now. IMGP1573 by leonpix538, on Flickr

yes I believe the 18-270mm lens is not up to the K3, I will save some money and my next lenses will be the Pentax 300mm and the 100mm Macro, in the meantime I will get to know my new camera better :)

Hello fellow Pentaxians, I am a new K3 owner, I have a Nikon D610, but always had curiosity about the Pentax cameras. Last week I had a fantastic deal on a K3 with a 18-270mm Pentax lens I couldn't resist. The little K3 it's a very nice compact camera I am getting used to the settings and the menus. I think I will keep my Nikon system for indoors and portrait photography and the K3 for macro and wildlife.
The only problem I have with the K3 is the AF system I think Nikon has a better AF in general.
These are some samples I have taken please don't be so harsh I am not a pro, just a guy that enjoys taking pictures  IMGP1530 by leonpix538, on Flickr IMGP1539 by leonpix538, on Flickr IMGP1531 by leonpix538, on Flickr PE_frozenlakeP by leonpix538, on Flickr |

Jeeezzz I don't even know where to start. First of all I asked an honest question, I don't work for Nikon! I just had a genuine curiosity about Pentax, I have read awesome things about the K-5.
I thought forums are for this purpose to discuss and see what other people think! I didn't know this site is for the only purpose of the adoration of the Pentax brand.
If Adam thinks this is a conspiracy against Pentax I will more than fine he deletes my thread.
That's all, thanks to all for your great input and have a great day!
Peace on earth!!

Thanks guys for your input. I am looking for something lighter than my D300s. What I like about the K-5 it is so compact. I had the chance to play with one in the B&H store and I really like the feel. With a pancake I can be out all day!
What I meant by "better" is that the K-5 is newer technology and higher resolution.
I think the K-5 is more forgiving if I don't get the right exposure. But now you got me thinking.....
Decisions decisions decisions :)

Hello Community!
I just found this site and I would like to ask for advise about switching from Nikon D300s to Pentax K-5.
First of all I am not a pro photographer, my interest in photography is family, animals, macro and stuff like that. Right now I have a D300s. I don't have expensive lenses.
I have researched and seems that the K-5 is a better option. I have a budget of around $2500 dollars for a new camera system.
Besides the camera what lenses should I get?
Thanks in advance for your input.
Mr. Leon
